I'm very far on both ends in some aspects and almost entirely neutral in others. It kind of astounds me that everything is so black or white in regards to politics. You can't believe in something without being labeled as whatever side would pick that, and if you're in between you're ostracized from both ends.

Thanks for sharing! I feel you on that. It's made even more absurd because the overwhelming majority have that same feeling, about being pigeonholed, but mostly don't think twice about doing the same thing to other people.

That's so true. People in modern American culture really hate grey area for some reason. I guess they're addicted to the certainty of thinking they know something 100%, and the emotional highs that come with that as they argue against others, even if they just argue in their own head.

At this point, it is essentially pure tribalism: "My tribe good, your tribe bad, ook ook (flings feces)".... I don't expect any of the blinkered partisans from either side to be swayed by any damned thing: Trump could start a nuclear war, and the 3 or 4 surviving republican deadenders would still vote for him. The HRC deadenders are the same way: if they somehow prop up her molding corpse after she passes, it'll still Be Her Turn to them.

This is pretty much the same as sports fans who will beat the crap out of each other in the stadium parking lot for supporting the wrong team or wearing the wrong colors. Just subtract the beer, and you have the american political system writ large. cf: the Hutus and the Tutsis in Rwanda for an instructive example of where we appear to be going, and in a handbasket. Wish that I weren't so cynical, but after you get to 60, you start to think "Well, didn't see this coming" a lot more often...

I'm center-left on most issues. Saidit users tend to vary quite a bit with regards to politics, although there's a trend towards anti-authoritarian thinking.

Nice question OP. I find the more accurately I label myself, the less meaningful the label becomes to others. So I don't worry myself with labels too much any more.

I think the real core of my belief system is I'm not a fan of authoritarianism because it's far more often used to abuse people rather than serve them. A grassroots bottom-up system of organization ensures that larger structures exist only to serve the people, rather than domineer over them. This is why things like democratically-owned & worker-owned workplaces are so important.

You could say I'm sort of a radical centrist, in a way. The people really need to have an equal say instead of just being ruled by those above them on the hierarchy. But I don't think the traditional left/right paradigm is a way to solve this and instead is a divide and conquer tool pushed by the media to lock in the ruling class status quo. I want actual centrism, not just the halfway point between neoconservative and neoliberal, as the MSM would have people believe.
