i am betting that the glitchy nature of my hosting of a dot onion page under windows would be more smooth if done on a linux box.

The truth is that many things are smoother on a linux box.

I wish that I could run a dos box using something like dos six and have internet and dot onion hosting.

Absolutely nothing is as lightning fast and lean as a basic dos box and running code written in c.
