Once I brought my mom home from a doctor's appointment and we found that an absolutely beautiful flower arrangement had been delivered. It was sent by my (then) husband's workplace offering condolences on my mother's death. He had wanted more time off from work so he decided to tell them that his mother-in-law died. My mom laughed about it and said she'd rather have the flowers now so she could enjoy them while alive. It only became a problem when mom died a few months later and he didn't know how to get time off for her wake and funeral...

DMX made me think about this great quote... I don't know if he realized how much love there was for him before he passed. Now I see a lot of appreciation for the man, but he's gone, he's not feeling this love. It's so important to show the people that we care about how we feel while they're still here.

I kept my mom in flowers because that's the way she felt. When she punched out, there were fresh flowers in her room. When we went to collect the stuff after the body was gone, they were still there. Her ashes are in his closet and have been there for a while, he put a bottle of bourbon next to them. I haven't bought flowers since she passed last year. Maybe I'll pop over someday when he's gone and put some flowers and another bottle of bourbon in there. For him.

Flowers look nice, and some have a pleasant odor, but is it not a little weird to send someone a bouquet of plant genitals? Better than the animal version, but still...
