Another shining reason to abandon android, google, apple, windows and as much mainstream tech as possible. We need to develop as many alternatives as possible outside the influence of these tyrannical tech companies. Saidit is a good example of a step in that direction.

Never gonna happen...the sheeple only care about convenience...not the price (nor hidden cost) of convenience.

Oh boy you guys are gonna hate this one. I don't care if it relates to covid, a remote install of ANYTHING is not okay by me.

Then better think twice about Win 11, cause it's Win 10 on malware steroids!

Lol definitely. I'm on windows 7 right now, and moving to linux with the next system (already getting used to it on my laptop).

Ditto. Mint is for me unless convinced to try another. My biggest hurdle (for years): saving up for a new box.

Mint is great and my choice too as long as it's not being used with a touch screen. Kubuntu is worth looking at too but mint is where it's at imo.

Even more confirmation of RMS's prescience. This is why they wanted to cancel him.

Is this done by Google Play Store? You should disable that regardless and use F-Droid instead, which is open-source. If you want the same catalog of apps: Aurora Store is an open-source alternative to Google Play Store that lets you install the same apps but without spying on you or controlling your device. Even better is to not use stock Android but a ROM that doesn't contain Google spyware to begin with. The OS is open-source in essence and I still think you can achieve good privacy if you know what you're doing.

I'm going to get an /e/ phone most likely when I move on. I have nothing to hide but I don't like feeling this lack of trust in my technology.

You should get it simply because the name looks so much like "lel phone".
