Sadly permanently deactivating a microphone is way more complicated than a webcam. I will stick to buying refurbished older hardware.

It's starting to get ridiculous. I shouldn't need 2 different operating systems to protect my privacy.

At this point I've got one windows machine that's only useful for playing video games and a linux computer for everything else. It's basically a console now, but without the stupid monthly payments required by xbox and playstation.

I'm surprised windows doesn't require you to prick your finger for a blood sample to to use their os.

100% the same lol. Use double boot - Windows for games and video editing, Linux for everything else.

Title should be “Microsoft will require OEMs that preinstall Windows 11 to include a webcam as a standard feature”. They’re not requiring a webcam for Windows 11 to function.

Time to switch to Linux (Popos for me) for daily use and Reactos for windows apps! After 2025 of course, fuck Microsoft.

Windows can have all the spyware and bloatware it needs, I only need a windows pc for gaming.

    Amazon sells little covers that slide back and forth to cover your web cam. Like 3 for a $1. Neat and tidy and works better then tape.
