Tldr: because it's got a learning curve and needs to get bugs removed.
I'm all for a Linux OS for smartphones. But it needs to work well. Not to mention having good apps or app emulation.

One of the primary reasons for this is carriers not allowing GNU/Linux phones on their networks.
