Yeah that's easily the most shocking part of this whole post

Also I know a guy who works at tesla and he even confessed to me the other day that he's not sure electric cars actually help the environment. The narrative is wearing thin

He has a masters degree in electrical engineering from Oxford. He's not just a great physical comedian.

Well, he's starting to wake up, but he's still being incredibly stupid. We need more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, not less. We barely have enough to sustain plant life as it is. More carbon dioxide means more plant life, which means more of all other life as well, including human.

A good article in The Guardian? There is hope.

And when these things catch fire the fire department says the amount of water needed to put them out is like an office building fire. Who came up with this shit?

They could use as much or as little water as they please. For a li-ion battery fire, no amount of water is useful and the fire department's mission becomes containment of secondary ignitions. Ignore it until the high-energy blaze underneath fades a bit; the battery will burn until she's done and then you can put out what's left over.

It shouldn't be a surprise the Guardian are publishing this.

Their aim to to keep their readership in a constant state of worry, confusion and guilt.

Now most of their audience has electric or hybrid cars they need to be told they are bad stupid people for buying them.

I skimmed it. Seems like arguments luddites who hate the planet were saying 20 years ago. Also seems like a degree'd engineer should have been smart enough to see these arguments from the get-go.
