This (on a lower level) just happened to one of my best friends last week. His GF got in a fist fight with her own daughter, afterwards she accused HIM of making the bruises and called the cops (he wasn't even home). The police came and arrested him later. He currently can't go into his (solely) owned home or retrieve any of his belongings inside until he can prove he is the owner of the items. Meanwhile she can live there rent-free until it goes to court. And he's going to have to shell out $10K+ to hire a lawyer.

I think she might have messed up tho because a few days later she tried to claim he violated her new restraining order and came to his house (where she is staying, of course). A warrant went out for his arrest and it was going to cost him another $1K - but the cops later got evidence that he couldn't have been there. Unfortunately that's only good evidence for when the trail finally occurs. When she inevitably looses the case, it'll just be a slap on the wrist, we all know it.

Yep, just a mere accusation against a man by a woman is considered proof by society. And even if it's wrong the logic is he still "deserves" it for angering the woman.

This doesn't just happen at random though. Almost all women who make false claims have borderline personality disorder. Don't go out with crazy women in the first place.

Hell hath no fury like a women scorned. Wifie has threatened to call the cops and lie when we've had bad arguments.

A crazy will actually do that 10 times in the interval between your wife threatening it.

I'm surprised they didn't sentence him anyway.

Yes it sucks but note that in this case justice prevailed. And it is already hard enough for abused/raped people to go to the cops without the threat of jail if the cops don't believe them. And in a lot of cases the cops don't believe them because they may be abusers themselves or more likely they are too lazy to do their jobs.

Justice didn't prevail.

If justice had prevailed, that woman would be in prison doing 99 years of hard time. It's exactly what she tried to do to an innocent man.

And it is already hard enough for abused/raped people to go to the cops

Nobody was raped. Literally nobody. The only one who was abused was the innocent man.

If justice had prevailed, that woman would be in prison for 99 years. I feel you don't know what "justice" means.

I agree that the accuser must be protected, in fact I don't completely disagree in what has happened thus far. My gripe is that in the end, after many months undoubtedly go by, there will be no tangible consequences for her false accusations. If we don't punish false accusations then it only encourages people to make false accusations.

In fact I'll bet she only went through the whole thing because she knew there is only upside for her - she can fuck with his life, get free rent, cost him $$$ - all for incredibly little risk on her part.

I don't think she deserves 99 years, lol. But it needs to go on her record, and at the least she needs to pay his legal fees.
