The worst part about our current moment in race relations is that the left is promoting a doctrine actively destructive to black self-esteem. The fundamental grain of the leftist argument is "hire/admit/promote black people at their statistical proportion relative to the population, above all other factors." For black people who are not stupid (as much a majority within the black race as within all the races), there is a voice in the back of the head that asks, "Hmm. If I was hired because I was black, would I have been hired if I weren't?" In other words, by giving them this "help", you plant the firm seed in their mind that perhaps they didn't achieve what they did based on their skill but on their race. This is spiritual destruction.

Race-blind advancement (even with its acknowledged weaknesses) is an infinitely better construct than where we are now, for all races. Individual ability and family support need to return once again to the foundation so we can develop a society that better addresses our individual needs rather than "group" needs, when groups are never absolute, only temporary collections of widely disparate individuals with widely disparate abilities and dreams.

One of my older black friends posted this meme on her Facebook: it had a picture of black people in 70s with mod style clothes and afros saying this is what we looked like when we had each others backs and called each other brothers and sisters. Then in the bottom picture had a picture of gang bangers and said this is what happens when we objectfy ourselves and call each other thugs and n....and, you know what I agree with her. This is my issue with 3rd wave feminism in a nutshell, it says be a victim, allow yourself to be objectified, don't want to succeed! if you succeed you will be like one of those evil oppressors. Of course though my friend is a liberal but is appalled at what liberalism has turned into.

Leftists, not liberals.

Liberals believe in free speech. They might disagree with what you say but will defend to the death your right to say it.

Leftists freely use censorship as a first resort. If anyone were allowed to point out all the problems with their philosophy, it would collapse.

Leftest are also crybullies. it really bothers me that that I got accused of harassment for expressing concerns about that bookstore banning their books. That isn't harassment at all. If they were sincere they would have addressed my concerns WITHOUT resorting to acting like I was a horrible person for think not selling a writer because you don't like what they say.

Trapped in a meritocracy with races that perform better than them by every metric condemns blacks to low self-esteem. The best thing we can do for them is to deport them back to their ancestral homeland of Africa where everyone else will be going their speed.

No, it's the slowly moving tactic support of violence and the approval for upheaving society. I get the meta point you're trying to make but that's quite far down the list of actual problems with race relations at the moment.

Well said. I have a tendency to speak in poorly supported exaggerations. I actually agree with what you write here. Given that all these problems are intertwined, however, it seems the whole concept of a "ranked list" is a mistake from the get go. Thanks for pointing this out.

I have a tendency to speak in poorly supported exaggerations.

We all tend to speak like that on things we're passionate about. I know I'm guilty of it too.

Yeah, the worst part is that blacks are getting jobs that they don't deserve and how they might feel negatively about it. Not that whites are being discriminated against and denied jobs on the basis of their skin. Yes, absolutely. What a nightmare for blacks

Define racism before making bold statements like this.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Okay, well in this context: Discrimination or prejudice based on race.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Both of those things are unavoidable consequences of different races being forced to live in proximity.

I agree, I'm just trying to point out the bullshit indoctrination. This "antiracist" shit is a new addition to the Marxist Woke conditioning program.

Black people have it easiest due to affirmative action and I think they know this, but they also know it could be reversed, and they also want more, so the best defense is a good offense, they go with tons of smollett style hoaxes in order to get more affirmative action basically. I realized this when I saw the list of demands from students protesting at a college near me, it was all economical, they wanted new jobs for head of diversity and more black faculty hired. They were protesting racist grafitti on walls, likely hoaxes they put themselves.

racism often exist to fuel imperialism, imperialism is the one that ever existing.

There will never be an end to racism- mostly because it is too useful as a political tool to divide the herd. We may see it labeled as things like "anti-racism", "tolerance", or "inclusion", but the core racial bias will be instigated and nurtured by politically connected propagandists in news media as long as it's a valuable weapon in keeping us at one another's throats.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

There will never be an end to racism because racism is a natural and unavoidable part of our tribal instincts. The only way to mitigate it is through segregation.

[–]insta 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The "Racism is just the way for the man to divide us all!" argument is such a cope.

I swear libertarians are worse than progressives. They're such babies.

It's an evolutionary benefit, really. The closer they are genetically to you, the closer it is between you passing on your genes and them passing on their genes. Doesn't make too much of a difference between an individual having kids and a family having kids. It's evolutionarily useful to care for the family's kids because they aren't that far off.

Plus, if you are willing to help a genetically similar person, since they are genetically similar it is fairly likely they may be willing to help back if they can.

I don't think the hierarchy of yourself, family, extended family/tribe, race, will ever completely go away, nor do I think it really should. If it did then groups would be acting in self destructive ways which I think is happening a bit today with white people and some "anti-racist" measures such as affirmative action.

I figure that ideally it just won't be especially important for any group and we'll be able to coexist fine. The problem exists when one race holds race to be more important when other races do not. It's a terrible idea to be impartial others aren't.

We can’t say the word racism has lost all meaning, and then make a statement like this.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Did you read beyond the title?

The “key concept” from How to Be an Antiracist is that to remedy the underrepresentation of minority groups, you need to engage in discrimination in the opposite direction — i.e., discriminate against whites.

[–]justjoggin 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I get the irony. But a lot of people here say the word racist has been abused so much it’s lost its meaning. But it’s statements like above that contradict that.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Well I agree. What word would you use to describe this nonsense?
