The teachings included how to change a tire, how to check tire pressure, how to check oil and coolant levels, what to do in a car crash, and whatnot.

They should teach all kids this.

Also you should always keep a towel in your trunk, you never know when you'll need to leave the planet in a hurry.

20+ years ago when I was in high school every freshman had to take a multi-subject course that was worth 1 credit.

It was ~ 4 weeks of each of the following: Wood Shop, Metal Shop, Auto shop and Home economics. You would rotate though them during the course of the semester and they taught you the basics of each like repairs, cooking, sowing ect.

No one gave two shits that girls where in auto shop back then...

    sowing

The most important of all, being able to grow your own food.

nothing wrong with teaching young girls practical, essential life skills and advice imo

though I think their dads ought to be doing it.

try doing any car repairs for something built in the last ten years, good luck, by the time this 11 year old of 20 it will be even more of a joke

I wish they did this in my country too. Most of the women I see driving seem to have zero understanding of anything apart from the controls of the car, and seem to think it is the domain of men alone. Boys OTOH just learn it from anyone because they want to.

One thing I found pretty funny is this ad (warning: english subs but audio not in english) for some shitty overpriced health drink. Unfortunately, it is not in this youtube video but on TV they warn you "not to perform the stunts depicted in this commercial" as the are "performed by experts under supervision".

If you did not watch the video let me just describe this: 2 girls are traveling in a car with their (presumable) mother driving it when they suddenly get a flat. the driver tries to call... someone, to change the tyre but has no cell reception. At this point one of the girls gets out and changes out the flat tyre for the spare one.

that's it, there are no stunts.

Pretty much anything physical is considered a stunt in the film industry.

Walking down one step is considered a stunt and some Hollywood actors would get a stunt guy to do that for them. It's not so bad in other countries though.

This is worth noting when you hear it said actors do their own stunts, those stunts might not be what you think.

They turn everything in to a story of women libertarian, it is pathetic.
