Because smart people are often more easily convinced with words than reality.

Sophist

  1. One skilled in elaborate and devious argumentation.
  2. A scholar or thinker.
  3. Any of a group of professional fifth-century BC Greek philosophers and teachers who speculated on theology, metaphysics, and the sciences, and who were later characterized by Plato as superficial manipulators of rhetoric and dialectic.

Today's "top" university minds, at least in the gender studies departments, are sophists. Plato had it right, and paying them to educate our kids is a worse ROI than if we just set fire to the money.

I think it is an antiquated correlation to associate intelligence and academia in the modern age. The proper correlation is agreableness. The quality of sheep. Universities are filled with sheep.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Correct. That's a big problem. Free thinking is overridden with propaganda with the secret hope that all people actually stop thinking for themselves.

[–]hfxB0oyA 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

The people you refer to are not academia's top minds. Sorry to shatter your reality.

[–]Canbot 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

"Top minds" is a meaningless term that you will claim means whatever suits your argument. The trans propaganda is the current status quo in Academia. Those who challenge it are pushed out. This propaganda is pushed by all of the authority figures within academia. You can't publish a scholarly paper contradicting them. You can't cite scientific papers that have not been accepted into their walled garden of acceptable sources. Universities are the most guilty of censoring dissenting voices. You can't address thier student body in the auditoriums. You can't disseminate contradicting opinions on thier walls.

Sorry to shatter your reality, but academia is no longer a place of learned people. It is a place of cultists

Would you ban sterile women or men with low sperm counts from sex? I imagine they still have a biological sex drive that would cause psychological problems if unfulfilled

[–]jet199Instigatrix 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (3 children)

This is a very strange strawman.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

How is this a strawman? OP explicity states that any sex for pleasure and not reproduction is deviant, and comparable to a mental illness like an eating disorder. This would apply to anyone even practicing birth control. Wore a condom? Deviant. Birth control pills? You are mentally ill

How can it elude the top minds of academia that the purpose of sex is reproduction?

Any behavior that contradicts this purpose is logically dysfunctional, akin to eating for pleasure alone.

I am directly addressing the claim in question here - that there is something inherently wrong with having sex when reproduction isn't the motivation for it. I don't see how you can say this is strawman fallacy

[–]jet199Instigatrix 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Is eating for pleasure alone deviant now?

You are arguing with yourself.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Is eating for pleasure alone deviant now?

Yes that is literally what OP said, here it is AGAIN.

Any behavior that contradicts this purpose is logically dysfunctional, akin to eating for pleasure alone.

He literally says its a dysfunction

You are arguing with yourself.

No, your just don't know how to read, or are severely mentally defective

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

No, but such reasoning is enough to deduce that to sterilize yourself voluntarily for no grave reason offends the Creator, whether you think He exists or not.

Or do you say sex has a different natural purpose?

[–]Vulptex 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

What is your source for that claim?

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

The laws of logic. This isn’t CNN where you have to trust the experts!

[–]Canbot 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

If someone loses thier stomach due to cancer and has to be sustained by intravenous nutrition should they continue to eat if they feel hunger? Surely no one would object if they choose to, but only a fool would argue that thier situation somehow diminishes the argument that the purpose of eating is sustenance.

If those people choose to eat rock because they are more convenient and satiate that urge more, surely you would not argue that this proves that eating rocks is normal or somehow a natural part of eating.

Sure you would not argue that eating poison is normal and natural just because some people do it.

Surely you would not deny that eating too much is a disorder, as well as eating too little.

Why does this logic not apply to sex?

[–]Vulptex 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Instinct. They are programmed to push other members of their tribe into having as many children as possible and sacrificing themselves for the mystical collective spirit.

There are a LOT of morbidly obese people in society....

Body positivity is a trans fatty identifying as a healthy normal weight person.

[–]Vulptex 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (21 children)

So you advocate enslavement to the system and society

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (20 children)

No, I advocate natural law, which is reason applied to ethics, and not simply about things like instinct.

[–]Vulptex 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (19 children)

The natural is evil. It cares about nothing except dominion and power. Do we want to live like that? What a terrible existence!

When we were children, were held in bondage under the elementary principles of the world. But when the fullness of the time came, God sent His Son so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, so that we might receive the adoption as sons. Because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying out, “Abba! Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son.

However at that time, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those which by nature are not gods. But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elementary principles, to which you want to be enslaved all over again?

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (18 children)

All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. 13 For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. 14 (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law. 15 They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.) 16 This will take place on the day when God judges people’s secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares

[–]Vulptex 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (10 children)

You also have no evidence that breaking natural law=sin. In fact it is quite the opposite.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (9 children)

So Jesus smiles when people hump dogs?

[–]Vulptex 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (8 children)

No. But you moved the goalposts, because you went from sex for pleasure to violating dogs.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

You said it’s the opposite of sin, which makes sex which cannot procreate a virtue. All moral decency and just reason applied to the purpose, shape and functionality of our sex organs condemns beastiality so it must be virtuous by your logic.

18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. 24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen. 26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

I didn't mean that doing the opposite of the law of nature is a virtue (though many times it is), but that the law of nature is evil. You are looking at everything from a 100% carnal and fleshly perspective with no true morality except that of atheism and nature: "might is right".

Romans 1:19-2:10 are not authentic, only a fragment of 2:2 stood in the original. Paul had lots of "gnostic" ideas, as does Christianity in general, he would've never appealed to nature as a source of morality. That's the pastoral editors and church fathers from the second century who wanted to make sure everyone had the "correct" interpretations.

So I just showed you where the Bible justifies what I’m saying and you claim what I quoted doesn’t count because, if true, you’d be condemned as a heretic.

Maybe—just hear me out here—you’re twisting scripture to your own destruction.

But we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God; because by the works of the Law none of mankind will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes knowledge of sin.

But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, but it is the righteousness of God through the faith of Christ for all those who believe.

Therefore, [having been justified by faith], we may have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all mankind, because all sinned— for until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not counted against anyone when there is no law, nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the violation committed by Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come.

So then, as through one offense the result was condemnation to all mankind, so also through one act of righteousness the result was justification of life to all mankind. The Law came in so that the offense would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, so also grace would reign through righteousness to [eternal] life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. 14 So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. 15 Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. 16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. 17 Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position

This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? Did you suffer so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain? So then, does He who provides you with the Spirit and works miracles among you, do it by works of the Law, or by hearing with faith?

Learn that "the righteous one will live by faith." For all who are under the Law are under a curse; for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all the things written in the book of the Law, to do them,” and, “The person who performs them will live by them.” Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”— so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Why the Law then? It was added on account of the violations, having been ordered through angels at the hand of a mediator. But a mediator is not for one party only; but God is only one. Is the Law then contrary to the promises of God? Far from it! For if a law had been given that was able to impart life, then righteousness would indeed have been based on law. But the scripture has confined everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Christ might be given to those who believe.

For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is not male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

I speak in human terms: when we were children, we were held in bondage under the elementary principles of the world. But when the fullness of the time came, God sent His Son so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. Because you are sons, he has sent his Spirit into our hearts, crying out, “Abba!

Jesus said if you love Him, you would keep His commandments, which includes the moral law of the Old Testament. The rest of the law has been abrogated. When Paul is talking about the law he’s talking about the Jewish Law, that consisted of far more than morals. The Judizers were insisting converts has to keep the whole Mosaic Law.

[–]Vulptex 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

The real old testament law is the exact same as the only one Jesus gave in the new. But the false pen of the scribes made it into falsehood. On top of that, who are you to decide what in the old law is moral or legal or ritual? That is your own division. That is picking and choosing from a list of works, and judging others by it, not upholding a real morality.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

The apostles, whom Jesus told to spread the gospel, told us what He taught, and we have historical records.

The end times is really a bad choice to be a heretic in.

Academia as been taken over by literal fascists. (((People))) who use corporate and financial power to shape society to thier liking. They want to reduce the global population and destroying families, minds, relationships, sexuality, financial stability, and many other structures in society to achieve that goal.

Humans are notorious for having more incidents of sex, per offspring, than any other animal. Something like 1,000 per birth.

[–]Vulptex 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Probably because most other animals don't stay together, so the one time they do it has to count.

This is just an exercise in fertility. cf. This is just an exercise in futility.
