Bible stories are so wholesome.

Is that really a bible verse? Omg. That's cool.

I bet you can't make jokes about the greatest commandments.

I dare you.

What do you mean? I take the piss out of everyone.

I read people fairly well sometimes, and it is obvious that you have a calm and cool disposition.

I appreciate and enjoy that.

Simple as that.

Dinkus /u/Hongkongphooey feels the need to discredit a person's belief in God because he is so misled that he has been convinced to declare his love for Satan.

..and, he is convinced that he is smarter than all of the engineers at NASA.

I encourage him to try very hard to make jokes about the greatest commandments.

Go ahead, I am waiting.

Considering most of NASA is diversity hires now, it really isn't hard to be smarter than them.

[–]chickenz 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

That could very well be, but I am not a diversity hire, and I don't have any problem reading a chart and if I wanted to I do not have any problem picking up the batphone and having a friendly tech chat with NASA engineers.

Yes, they will answer the phone AND yes they will let you take that conversation as far up the chain of command as far as the caller can take it.

Yup.

Considering I can throw sticks further than they have spacecraft lately, I think i'll pass.

I diddnt suspect you to be religious.

The Ten Commandments are pretty good.

[–]chickenz 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

With all respect, I am not referring to the ten commandments.

I am, however, referring to the greatest of God's commandments.

Most believers squint when I suggest that you could throw away the entire bible and only keep the greatest commandments, and you can spend a hundred lifetimes and never ever get it right.

Matthew 22:36-40

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

And, of course, I would probably want to hang on to those verses in Corinthians (?) that says that love is patient and kind.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

Sounds like the woke left's response to Wi Spa, Lia Thomas, and every other time men come out of the woodwork to defend other men, whether they're being pervs or not. Bros before hos, even your own underage virgin daughters, amirite? True in Lot's time, true in 21st century America.

Anyway, Jack Chick illustrated it best in Doom Town.

even your own underage virgin daughters

They were total sluts.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

I think you have to have daughters to understand this. You'd think you'd want to protect their virtue forever, but they're the parents' burden until they hand her off to someone.

And Lot's daughters were total whores anyways. No wonder he wanted to get rid of them.

Idk dude, I could understand this is if Lot was handing them over to husbands rather than a gang-rape mob.

And Lot's daughters were total whores anyways.

NGL, didn't read the rest of the passages to know if this is accurate, but Lot seems to be think they are virgins

His daughters get him drunk and take turns fucking him. Best part of the bible.

You're thinking modern values, he probably wouldn't have taken them back in his home. I get sacrificing two bratty teens to save my own ass.

Jeez...Ok, guess his daughters were whores, sounds like I need to read the rest of the Lot story

Nah you basically need to understand the cultural background of this as well since it's dealing with pre-judaic societies with cultural standards very different than our own. Sodom was essentially known for having roving rape gangs and they wanted to have sex with Lots visiting angels. Lot refused because he took guests under his protection and in that culture if you take in a guest then you are honor bound to protect them even to the cost of your own family, so Lot giving up his virgin daughters to a rape gang would be seen as a virtuous act, although a modern eye may view it instead as a suggestion towards lot's foolishness and inability to see what was wrong with his life choices that he'd be willing to destroy his family for some sense of honor to strangers.

The incident with his daughters happened immediately after Sodom got nuked by god and Lot's wife was turned into a pillar of salt for looking back. The daughters were like "everyone in the world is dead we have no suitable husband's we must carry on the human race" so they got Lot extremely drunk then had sex with him when he was unaware of his surroundings. Both had kids.

we must carry on the human race

Big mistake!

Which is why he shouldn't have had to take care of them in the first place.

Classy.
