Have you ever heard of kratom? I have taken it for a couple of months before.. it literally is a natural opiate.. it calms the nerves.. I feel warm and fuzzy.. and my depression disappears.

Salvia Divinorum was filling that role for some, pragmatically. It became illegal in my state, though. Before then, people were ordering trash bags of it from Mexico, cooking it to 5x,10x,25x extract and trying to sell it to hippies...but it mostly scared people; I called it baby dmt.

Yet, frequently, crack and cocaine use is strongly tied to drinking and party-lifestyle, which becomes a drugs-not-really-required lifestyle/mindset addiction that is much harder to escape that quitting a drug. In that case, maybe something highly social and/or something adrenaline based like rock climbing, rafting, or sky diving could help fill some of the roll.
