Could be both. Not every case of mental illness is a spiritual problem, but some cases are. As our societies become more and more degenerate, lonely, and meaningless, people will get sicker. The internet is a huge contributor to mental health issues, imho. But the role of the demonic in all of this shouldn't be ruled out. It's both things.

Some crimes are so evil and messed up, you wonder what in the heck could have possessed the person to be so brutal and hateful and cruel. Well, there's your answer. Sometimes something else takes over entirely.
