“ One in three children in America can not read at a basic level of comprehension. 85% of black students lack proficiency in reading skills. We already spent a lot of money on schools. So are you going to keep telling me that more money will fix this because I feel like this is much more connected to the problems of people who can't read. Yes, they're going to have problems with gainful employment and it seems like, you know, a lot of times the solutions that come from the left seem symbolic. They don't seem like we're addressing what really needs to be done which is get kids learning, get them reading, get them to have a job," Maher said.

"It doesn't seem like the money is getting to this problem if 85% of black students lack proficiency in reading skills," he said.

This is a cultural issue more than a racial issue. A report was produced in the UK some time ago that found that some of the highest performers in school were West Africans, while the lowest performers were of Caribbean origin. Society lays foundations, but people build their own failures.

I agree 100%.

Not my report, I didn't publish it, only link it. Perhaps it depends on your definition of performance. The report clearly states:

Black Caribbean pupils had a permanent exclusion rate of 25 in 10,000, compared 7 in 10,000 for Black African pupils...Overall, the 2 lowest achieving groups were Black Caribbean and White British boys of low socio-economic status.

Educational outcomes of Black pupils and students are well documented on the subject, such as this publication

64% of Black African pupils attained standard passes in both English and maths GCSE, which is close to the national average. However, Black Caribbean pupils had significantly lower pass rates, at 48%. Black African pupils also made more progress, with an average Progress 8 score of +0.33, whilst for Black Caribbean pupils the average score was -0.31.

This isn't an attack on black, African or Caribbean people in particular, just an example of how it is not race itself that defines outcomes but the social and cultural differences. Further cultural distinction can be made between Indian and Pakistani outcomes who share both genetic and geographic origins. Indian households are among the high socio-economic status households compared to Pakistani and Bangladeshi who are among the lowest.

Yep, the responsibility of instilling literacy and learning skills rests on the parents, not the schools. And that needs to start from day 1 of the child's life. But if there's only one parent from the very beginning, that leaves a massive deficit in quality parent-child time since the parent (and let's face it - the mother) is too preoccupied with fulfilling all of the roles that a two-parent family would otherwise be able to share.

Students do better when their parents are more engaged with them. That's why more money thrown at schools doesn't fix problem students. Also, parents support PTA/PTO groups financially more in middle-to-higher income school districts.

It seems that black lives matter far less to one ethno-demographic group than to all the rest of them. And the name of the demographic group in question does not begin with a "W".

Imagine if all the black people in the USA weren’t supported by Whites, either with all the welfare programs or what jobs they have. They would turn this country in Zimbabwe or Burkina Faso.

I don’t blame them: they evolved in a climate that didn’t encourage brain size growth. Their brains are smaller relative to body size than Europeans and NE Asians. Maher points out that many/most can’t read above a very low level, but he won’t say they evolved that way. Teaching someone below 75 IQ (many are like that) is damned near impossible: they get quickly bored and chimp out.

        They are doomed.

It's for evolutionary reasons, the killing makes them stronger.

To this day, black people still have a small portion that is not protected by the law. They are still resigned and not only black people, Asians are also discriminated against. traffic jam 3d
