I Ran Into a Grizzly Bear this Morning While Walking my Dog in Montana’s Swan Mountains.

I was walking my dog this morning on Forest Service land in Montana’s Rocky Mountains. Dog and I met a grizzly bear. Everything turned out OK.

Dog and I are walking down a dirt road when I see the bear. It was about175 feet away in the middle of the road. It was looking at us. A grizzly. It had a hump in its upper back Dog had not detected it yet and did not put up a harangue.

I don’t have pictures. I was too busy preparing to do battle. I drew the dog close. And pulled the bear spray canister out of my coat. My eye was still on the bear.

So I turn around and started WALKING (not running) away from the bear with dog in hand (we look like a bigger opponent when together.)

My torso was turned when walking away so I could watch the bear. Bear took a few steps towards us. Then bear stopped and went up on its hind legs to get a better look.

Dog and I kept walking q away. After about 10 seconds, the bear went down in all 4s and bolted in the other direction…away from us.

I watched my back all the way back to the truck! 🤠

I run into white folks from time to time. Camping or cutting firewood. Never had any trouble. No niggers in Montana except near universities or military bases.

That could be true. That bear has not yet weaponized nuclear energy and instead has to use its claws and teeth at short range. However, another bear is coming, and u/GuyWhite - they look white and they come from the north.

I agree with you, because God gives the people a leader that matches the nation's spirit. That does not mean his physical appearance, such as his skin color, is the image of the people.... but his spirit is the representation of the people.

Bullets piss off bears too. And you can run out of bullets, just like bear spray. A bear is a moving target…plus the target area is smaller as the bear coming at you. Similar to a bear spray, a pistol is close range item too.

With both weapons, it is technique/delivery/skill. You have to keep your composure and concentrate.

With bear spray, you first gauge the wind. (It was a slight breeze coming from my left.)

When the bear is about 100 feet away and charging towards you, you release a one second stream to form a cloud. The cloud will be about 30 feet from you. If the bear continues charging through the cloud, it is now in range. You unload the rest of the spray in the bears face. 5 seconds worth.
