    Fair question and one that I hadn't thought too deeply about before. The point is to not see your own reflection while you sleep. So if you were sleeping in a tree facing a lake where you could see your face reflected by the moonlight, that would be the same issue.

    If you have good enough eyesight to see your own reflection in a pencil across the room, then I think there's a different discussion to be had.
