Involuntary manslaughter is covered under California Penal Code Section § 192(b), and basically occurs when a person kills another unintentionally.

In other words, it's when a person kills someone else, but they did not specifically intend to kill them, and did not kill in a manner that showed a total lack of respect for human life.

Yeah it does. And I'd try a very nuanced line here about the cost/benefits of doing this. If we have another alt-right mass shooter with a manifesto, no don't give them any fame, the cost of this far outweighs the benefits of releasing it when the public already knows alt-right groups are preaching harmful and extreme rhetoric.

Now in this particular instance, I think a very large section of the population has no idea how toxic the trans rhetoric is because they get all their news from the NYT and MSNBC (my family for example), and the public benefit of informing people as to the nature of this ideology outweighs the costs of further publicizing this shooter.

A bloke was stabbed to death outside a Starbucks after he asked a man to refrain from vaping close to his three-year-old child.

Paul Schmidt, 37, from Canada, and his daughter Erica were waiting outside the coffee shop in Vancouver on Sunday, while Paul's fiancee bought drinks inside.

Paul politely asked his killer not to vape, but in horrifying footage captured by a member of the public the suspect took out a knife and stabbed Paul in the stomach.

The dad, who was seen falling to the ground in agony, was left surrounded by a pool of blood.

Paul's mum Kathy Schmidt said she can't believe her son was stabbed for trying to protect his daughter's health.

She told Vancouver Sun: "This is so horribly wrong what happened. He was just trying to protect his daughter. I’m angry and I’m sad.

"It all started because he was vaping beside the baby. Ashley’s in shock — she watched the whole thing. She’s so devastated."

Inderdeep Singh Gosa, 32, has been charged with second-degree murder following the stabbing.

Kathy has called for the charge to be upgraded to first-degree. For that to happen prosecutors would need proof that the stabbing was premeditated.

She said: “He had a knife. I don’t carry a knife into a coffee shop, do you?”

Kathy said she was in despair watching the video as nobody around or in the coffee shop came to her son's rescue.

The heartbroken mum continued: “I was incredibly surprised that nobody from inside the Starbucks called for help, nobody outside called for help. It wasn’t until basically he was in dire straits that somebody flagged down an officer on the sidewalk.

“What kind of world are we living in when you take your family to Starbucks in the middle of the afternoon and you’re attacked and killed, with many people standing around videotaping and watching?”

Cops said an officer on patrol was alerted to the incident at around 5.40pm following a "brief altercation."

Authorities are now pleading with eyewitnesses to come forward to help determine a motive for the attack.

According to biological science a human with an XY genotype is male. Biological sex is determined by chromosomes, not genitals. From a social standpoint, I would accept the 'intersex' definition, as I would recognize that despite their genotype, they have characteristics we normally associate with the other sex such as hormone levels or genitals (note, I did not say 'defined by' these other characteristics). that might make it inappropriate to categorize them as their genetic sex in a society where separation of sexes in sports and changing rooms is generally agreed to be a desirable thing for reasons that have to do with hormones and genitals rather than chromosomes and biological definitions

I don't know about this. Yes the titles and writing are click-baity, and yes they have some trashy tabloid stuff, but their track record of reporting factual information seems quite good over the last couple of years I have read it. Actually, I am somewhat impressed that the Daily Mail seems willing to print stories that are embarrassing to both the Democrats and the Republicans (They happily bash both Trump and Biden, as well as the policies of both parties), rather than bury or neglect a story that is inconvenient to the wrong party. In this way their love of clicks, and being 1-step removed from U.S. politics, I'd say they have a much better track record than the NYT or Fox News when I want to see factually accurate reporting on what happened during the day, although they are certainly not perfect, NYT and Fox are a pretty low bar to clear.

Now I am not saying their analysis was enlightening, but I am pretty confident that Staffer both made that tweet in question and resigned, this isn't that hard to verify, searching NYT right now, there is NO mention of this event even happening. However I CAN find it on the NYPost, which reiterates my issue with U.S. media and their too-cozy relationships with our political parties

Well, I think the answer that question might be more apparent if you rephrase it a bit. "What would make a person become a chronic internet user in the first place, to the point where they are unable to any longer be functioning members of society?"

I would think it is A.) the same reason anyone uses media, but taken to a pathological extreme - that being a functioning member of society is not that interesting or fulfilling - and neither is social media - but it is designed to be stimulating, something working a repetitive boring job or 'pulling yourself up by your bootstraps' is not.

Also.. B.) Functionally the same as any other addiction - you are meeting a need that was previously going unmet, but in a way that has negative consequences for you

So if you want to be able to engage with society again, I think the answer is fairly simple, though maybe easier said than done.

You need to find something stimulating at the very least, that is in the real world (also involving real people) and not media. You are meeting a need with social media that was going unmet in your real life - the need for something stimulating and interesting. You need a way to get that outside of social media, or you will likely have a very difficult time breaking this cycle. Now I'm not sure what that might be for you as I don't know you that well, but I would try thinking about what kinds of things get you excited or engage you, and try to figure out a way to do them IRL

Yes, thats true, chromosomal sex can be a mismatch with the sexual development of genitals. I suppose I can accept this definition of intersex: having intersex characteristics, i.e. male genital expression or elevated testosterone without the male chromosome or vice versa.
