I agree with your point on asexuality actually. When you follow mainstream asexual communities the term "asexual" is pretty much meaningless like non-binary. It can include everyone, literally. But been seeing a little pushback against watering down the meaning of asexuality but as expected the mainstream calls them gatekeepers or bigots. Even if they simply want the word "asexual" to mean something specific.

Ah yes, genitals, reproductive systems, musculoskeletal structures, pfft that shit is so easy to change, we're like Mr. Potato Heads, really. BUT MY DESIRE TO WEAR PRETTY DRESSES WAS DECIDED BY THE GODS THEMSELVES.

At this point transgenderism is truly like religion and you can't convince me otherwise. It's ridiculous to reject the objective reality but consider your beliefs to be something what is before the objective evidences. It's the same logic you see in religious people. For example Christians who reject evidences of evolution or that the world is older than 2 thousands years old because their beliefs matter more.

And science doesn't really back up gender identity - to be clear, there is just no actual concepts made around it yet - it only exists as a discourse among activists. There is no coherent definition of this concept while you can actually find various empirical definitions for concepts which are also psychological like - intelligence, emotions, personality etc. These tend to be understood slightly differently between professionals but even these different understandings tend to be coherent on their own. Because of the fact they could be conceptualized and professionals could create tools to measure them!

Meanwhile with gender identity? It's always described in a terribly vague way. Scientific concepts shouldn't be vague and up to someone's interpretation. They should be clear cut so anyone, who learns the definition can understand it in the same way.

Imagine trying to create a tool to measure gender identity like you have such ones for personality or intelligence. That's impossible to make without bringing up gender stereotypes. But since out TRAs insist gender identity is detached from gender stereotypes or anything social, then imagine conceptualizing that. How do you wanna measure it? Since you can't, then to me it feels like gender identity is more like a name you choose for yourself or someone. With new sets of pronouns, new name etc it really feels like gender identity is a "complex name" you attach to yourself.

Sorry I just can't. If discussion around transgenderism was based on acknowledging your biological sex but also acknowledging that in your mind you feel comfortable more as the opposite of your sex (because of severe distress aka gender dysphoria) then I think there would be no need for this sub even.

I guess it's nothing new that the queer or LGBTQWERTY label is just the "cool" label. Why is everyone so desperate to belong there even if they find a name for their obscure sexual preferences? Because they don't wanna be a "normie". It's not "cool" to be a "normie". As an anti-conformist person I tend to be angry I am not a straight person among the rest of my "queer" friends. And in creative works, unlike the others, I refuse to make everything "queer" or at least outright "queer" and I just make characters who may happen to be not straight people but it's usually not relevant and I don't shower them in colorful flags and pronouns. But I genuinely feel more original when I make very normie aka straight and non-trans characters' stories even if it may sound funny. God, I had to let it out.

I feel so much the point number 3. I had a friend suddenly realizing she is a "demigirl" but that's it to it. Just some laughable addition of "they" to pronouns list. I hope she will snap out of it. But besides for that she doesn't make a big deal out of it. She's rather very socially awkward and I'd say what she interprets as "not wanting to be seen as a woman by strangers" is the social awkwardness, boyish interests and shy personality she has. Basically being a "they" is her protective shield. It still fucking hurts to see even if technically nothing really changed.

I feel like some of the proclaimed asexuals or aromantics are socially awkward people, who just never dated or fucked despite having a desire for it. It's a key to point it out they have a desire for these because they often even say that they love to fantasy about dating or sex but as they say they don't want to see themselves involved in the acts or they even imagine themselves in such scenarios. Meanwhile I just have no desire whatsoever. I don’t care.

I think there is a raise of awareness there is such a thing as asexuality but alongside that you have a lot of socially awkward or traumatized people identifying as such. But they discover a bit later they aren't asexual.... or they water-down the term to the point it's mind-boggling, just to keep the queer label.

[–]INeedSomeTime 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I only expect to certainly lose friends I have if I shared my actual views on the current trans issue. It's not all negative towards trans people themselves. I'd say I hold a nuanced view on it where I differentiate between people, who you could call "genuinely trans" with severe gender dysphoria resistant to any interventions than just transitioning. But I cannot treat "trans/non-binary" people who have no dysphoria or just social dysphoria (which to me is very fucking normal) seriously and I find indulging their "identity" as actually harmful. So it pains me to have a friend with "they" pronouns and refer to her as such. I hate to indulge someone in avoidance of an issue she should face - sexism, misogyny etc. and pretend somehow she is suddenly above these once she declared having "they" pronouns. Today's trans activists claim how transgender is not mental illness but to me transgender identification (which is not caused by actual clinical gender dysphoria) can induce it. This is why I feel strong uneasiness with indulging proclaimed non-binary people or non-binary characters, which are being made nowadays. I view them as confused, disturbed people, who use depersonalization from their gender as unhealthy coping mechanism.

TQ+s are trying to redefine homosexuality to fit the opposite sex

I think they do it with literally any word in the acronym. It even includes transsexualism. It used to be a rare condition with a set of severe symptoms, which were treated with transition (because they were so severe and nothing could help them). Now it's a washed out term which includes also girls with "not like the other girls" syndrome, who don't feel any distress about their bodies nor presenting feminine.

TQ+ is watering down any term, so average "cishet" can be a part of the "LGBTQ+" community.

I like this sticker they posted because it says it all. Old school transsexual people sought being just women or men they felt they are. Today people don't actually feel they are men, women or in-between. They just identify as trans and only that. They love attention from it. They identify as attention-whores when they say "I love being trans" instead of "I love being a woman/man".

Twitter user wants existing characters to become “trans” because it “increases their character depth” by kingc-way245 in TumblrInAction

Trans, like being gay shouldn't be your entire personality. A trans character won't be any more interesting than a cis character with a shallow personality and history. They will be just a boring trans character instead for example. But I like how they admit that they believe being trans makes you an interesting person overall - a cure to being just a basic, boring cishet. Wrong my dudes. You are now just even more annoying than before.

Why are tumblr users so obsessed with making every character gay or LGBT in general? by jacques1102 in TumblrInAction

[–]INeedSomeTime 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Many reasons. To put them shortly:

  • majority of Tumblr users are straight women (but certainly a lot of them now identify as some flavor of non-binary or trans men to hide this) they just fetishize gay men, so they love to make characters gay and ship them

  • they clearly see "cishet" as something negative and boring, so making them anything but cis or het is seen as a cheap way of making characters interesting (if they're OCs)

For me it took me longer to figure it out because asexuality wasn’t known at all so at some point as a teen I was simply like "My orientation? No idea" until I found the term - I didn’t know about Tumblr then and didn’t think of checking any non-straight places. Then got disappointed it's claimed to be a spectrum so a married woman with kids can claim to be kweer too.

That's very on point. Add to that how all these identities' definitions are horribly unclear that everyone can fit them. No wonder they swap them as they find a fresh new label, it sorta fits with its muddy definition, the excitement with something new gets mistaken for finding "the correct label" and here we go.

Truth be told you never know how many people with pronouns in bio also secretly don’t believe in this crap but they just wanna cynically protect themselves from that. We all are in a weird circus, where I guess the social ostracism scares us all. We were taught and programmed that for daring to question any part of dogma we will face punishment. It works both ways. It also teaches the other people to harass you for what they find unacceptable. It's very sick but I don’t have enough of mental health to deal with it so I am sadly closeted about it. Insane how trans people are legitimately a protected class. You can’t critize them. You can't form questions about stuff related to them. It's so anti-science not to explore this subject. So many well established theories were debunked despite being seen as the truth for many years. People worship trans ideas as some truth absolute. It's not trans activism isn’t based on science. It's based on beliefs, which use studies activists even misinterpret to fit their agenda.

Got into a semi-fight with a friend over sexual/romantic attraction by [deleted] in LGBDropTheT

[–]INeedSomeTime 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

She claimed to be asexual once her libido disappeared from hormones she was taking? I believe even asexual community would point it out as a reason to be concerned not to claim a new label. She's bisexual, who just has no libido. Also you're perfectly fine with the points you made here. Ignoring the romantic and sexual attraction (in TQ+ lingo: split attraction model) but that's ridiculous to come out as asexual after hormones dropped your sex drive to zero. The TQ+ asexuals would even tell you how "libido (sex drive) =/= sexual attraction" so this woman is just so wrong and I don't even understand why she would swap labels (if she was straight I'd believe she'd do it to feel special). Maybe that's her way to protect herself from her boyfriend, who is definitely frustrated by the lack of sex?

And yes, romatic attraction is rooted in sexual attraction really. The phenomenon of crush (which asexual/aromantics consider being associated with romantic attraction) clearly evokes physical reactions... so how it's not related to sexual attraction? No one ever thought sexual attraction doesn't have to be the obvious "I wanna fuck them" rational, conscious thought and instead is a bit more complicated physiological reaction which makes you feel that you wanna be around the person you're attracted to? I only see a possibly that you may want to be with someone without sex if you just see that person as some really good friend, who you love hanging out with. But there is no romance here.

I feel you but I cannot reveal more details about myself why. But I also hang in similar spaces and thoughts close to yours occur to me. I hang out with a small circle of people, who are still on board with the ideology, one recently realized "they" are not "cis" but seemigly they still use pronouns matching their sex (besides for "they" being listed too) so no clue what's the deal here (I know that they aren't attention seeking person also -btw I used "they" to actually make sure of my anonymity) but I am actually relieved that apparently they don't really go transition route because that was my biggest fear and it pained me I couldn't really voice it without being seen as a potential transphobe (even if there is just so many red flags implying that their new identity comes from being a simply awkward person feeling unsafe).

The topic doesn't happen really often so it's tolerable - I don't feel like an impostor too often. I don't find it worth it to break a friendship of many years just because of this issue since the topic isn't constantly brought up. Also I think these people would be severely heartbroken and I know one person isn't in the best headspace right now... seriously. I am afraid what they'd do if they found it out. I am serious here.

I feel you on so many levels. There was many times (after my friend's come out moment - because I feared they'd go medical transition route what I would be unable to stomach) when I wanted to suddenly delete all my social media, come back under some new name. Well, I didn't do this for reasons I mentioned before. I hope that with time there will be more and more info popping out, which should make these people question the ideology itself finally.

That's what I hate the most about today's LGBT movement and why I don't associate myself with it no matter how much people whine that "you can't just belong to LGBT, you are LGBT!" - no. I saw a similar version of this question but related to gender identity and it went similar. Cis -> many different versions of nonbinary switched ever since. My pipeline? Straight -> asexual, and only because I misunderstood straightness as being not gay (not being attracted to the same sex) not as being attracted to opposite sex... after understanding this I don't swap labels like new socks every day.

I am the worst person to even debate this but from what I've observed people do the thing because of the inner drive - therefore sexual attraction. There is a lot of virgin straight people who never dated or had sex but they are certain they're attracted to the opposite sex and the idea of sleeping with same sex is very off-putting to them.

To answer OP from that Reddit post: yes. You're 14. You're in the middle of your puberty. You can't compare a teen questioning or identifying as gay/bi to being aroace. People really fail to see there is some difference here. In my case I truly began to explore my identity once I hit the age of 18. Before that I knew I was at the intense stage of sexual development so I could start feeling something I never felt at any moment so I never even bothered myself with labels. I was more like only questioning at certain age (when I was 16?).
