Understood by "some". You've literally just picked an incorrect definition you like. Words have meaning. "Fetish" means what it meant. Your definition makes less sense than the one established by dictionaries. You can't have a fetish for sex/sex organs.

By definition, you can't have a fetish for sex. The claim "all sexual feelings are derived from having fetishes" is blatantly false.

"Something, such as a material object or nonsexual part of the body, that arouses sexual desire and may become necessary for sexual gratification."

I'm 27 and I already feel like these beauty standards are completely beyond my reach. I didn't grow up with the level of pressure that these kids are growing up with. More than that, as isolated as we were, and as much time as we spent alone in our rooms with the internet, it's so much worse now. I can only imagine how painful the wake up call is going to be when aging starts to show.

I was thinking something similar yesterday. I remember myself and my peers being vain in our teens, but I was in the grocery store and I saw these girls dressed up and dolled up like they were getting ready for some e-girl photoshoots. I'm reaching my later twenties, still so young, and yet, I'm starting to feel outside the visible spectrum when it comes to modern beauty standards. How much are these kids gonna struggle when they're even more isolated from peers, even more inundated with falsity and vanity..? This fixation with self image has become completely out of control, and I imagine that kids growing up with TikTok and Instagram are going to struggle far more than we did.

There's a book called The Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolf which explains beauty as a means of reclaiming control over women which has been lost as women started to escape the role of domestic servant. Since women are no longer "domestic goddesses" and the spiritual center of the family, beauty and male centered hypersexuality (particularly porn) have become the means by which women's energies are diverted and women are parted from their personhood.

It's a very solid read. Unusually stream of conscious for a non-fiction book, but densely populated with important concepts. I highly recommend it for all women, particularly those struggling with beauty.

Are you set on cohabitating?

The way I see it, you're in a relationship with your partner and your partner only. You have no obligation to a relationship with his family. If you WANTED to spend time with them, that would be one thing. It sounds like he is spending a lot of time dealing with his parents needs. That's fine, so long as the impact on you only comes in the form of him being busier. If your partner can't respect that and expects you to care for his aging parents, he's taking advantage of you. Either he sets boundaries with his family such that they don't negatively impact you, or he's not worth it. If he respects and prioritizes you, he will understand that you are not and should not be beholden to his mother and father.

Key thing? You need boundaries. You need firm boundaries like, yesterday. If she needs help, it sounds like she's got plenty of money to get help. If they can't care for their pets, they shouldn't have pets. If you SO decides he wants to step up and take care of them, that's his business, not yours.

Adding money into this seems like a disaster in the making.

New forums need time to grow and mature. I think the lack of downvoting poses a potential problem as well. Both Ovarit and Spinster have gender critical feminists, and I'd say both have content that... misses the mark. Rather than picking based on their current state, I'd focus on which you'd like to see succeed and work to shape the tone and content. Our behavior doesn't exist in a vacuum. There's nothing wrong with have multiple partners or engaging in different sexual acts, but aggression is part of her sexual fantasy and that needs to be viewed with some class analysis. Why would a woman seek to "push her boundaries" in a sexual situation? Why would she use porn terminology like "gangbang" when referring to having sex with multiple male partners instead of a foursome? Does it benefit her as a woman as part of a class of women to pretend like her sexuality is not influenced by her experiences and the world around her? Can we gain any insight into the way she may view herself and her relationship with her sex when her fantasies include being "shoved to the ground"?

Liberalism sells us the idea of choice feminism. That our choices are inherently empowering because they are choices. This ignores the larger context. Recognizing social influences, norms, expectations, and class-based power structures (especially relating to male dominance and the patriarchy) is essential in radical feminism. Perhaps you are in the wrong forum or should do further research into radical feminist ideas.

Women attempt suicide 1.2 times as often as men. The larger number of male deaths by suicide is likely attributable to methodology. Men and women tend to use different methods. I'd argue women tend to put more thought into their corpse and the impact of their death on the people they leave behind. Men also are more likely to own guns, which are a major driver in the success of a suicide attempt.

[–]Irascible-harpy 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Pornography was a heavy contributer in my sexual grooming and dehumanization from pre pubescence. My rapist showed me pornography as a means of introducing me to having sex with him when I was 13. He was 17-18 over the course of our relationship.

Porn reinforced the message from society that as a woman I was worthless. My rapist called me his loli. I was admired by him and his friends for my sexual maturity as he progressively coerced and later forced me into more and more extreme sexual acts. When I started to fight him during sex, he claimed that he was unaware that it was not part of our ongoing sex. I used to self harm heavily and sex became another method of hurting myself. When I finally left him after he forcefully penetrated me after I repeatedly told him no, he threatened me, stalked me, and made my life a living hell. He believed I belonged to (with) him. I believe his constant porn habit played a significant part in his predatory socialization as well.

Trans ideology is diametrically opposed to women's fight for liberation. There's no such thing as being trans (or non binary) and a gender critical feminist. I don't hate trans people, but what they believe in is regressive and harmful to women. Gender is nothing but a prison. So no, I don't. You got a source for homosexuals having brains like those of the opposite sex? Because scientists can't determine a brain's sex consistently.

It's so funny to me that Reddit is claiming TERFs were brigading different women's subs (like r/PCOS and r/pregnancy) like there weren't radfems in those subs to begin with by Irascible-harpy in GenderCritical

Because only women are diagnosed with PCOS. It's transwomen who object to being left out of the space and identify as women with hormonal imbalances. You've got to adapt the backwards think of gender ideology. A. Women can't have anything unless transwomen have it too (regardless of how useless or awful it is), and B. If transwomen are biologically female but have excessive body hair, low estrogen, etcetc, then it's due to hormonal imbalance and not intrinsic to sex.

If I had PCOS, I would feel inclined to bop someone for saying I wasn't a woman because of my condition. Hell, I feel inclined to bop them when they imply I'm less of a woman because I wear comfortable clothing and don't waste my time and energy with the toxic cesspool that is beauty and diet culture.

There have been some great resources posted below. I just wanted to say that we will always be here to support women. Our only limitation is that this is an explicitly gender critical space. If you're looking for a broad range of viewpoints including those beyond gender critical feminism, you might want to check out the gender critical debate saidits. I believe Gender Critical QT is being rehomed here as well. There used to be a subreddit specifically for detrans individuals started by a detrans FTM. I used to recommend the subreddit wholeheartedly, but I do so with some caution at this point. The subreddit has been caught up in the purge. Reddit has been working hard to remove any and all viewpoints which may be considered critical of gender (particularly coming from women). The subreddit still exists at this time (thought it was temporarily banned). The top post still seems very relevant. Here's the URL for the sub https://www.reddit.com/r/detrans/

Take it with a grain of salt in the current environment. If you'd be interested, it could be beneficial to start a Saidit detrans community as well. You are absolutely not alone in the slightest. I hope you find peace and acceptance, both within yourself and within women's communities. Many of us have experienced some degree of gender dysphoria in the past and while we may be critical of gender, we will always have solidarity with you as a fellow woman.

They want their spaces protected and everyone else's. There's no such thing as a safe space for anyone but transwomen. "If it isn't for or about me, I will use my massive privilege to destroy it."

Anecdotal evidence. It's the same as saying, "I don't believe men are raping women because all the men I've met are super nice and would never do that." There are people who identify as trans who are caught and arrested for male pattern violence. It's illogical and arrogant for you to determine whether some is or isn't trans based on your feelings from the few interactions you've had with some trans people.

Because it's common, or is the name based on a scene from an old movie and now it refers to any woman who gets emotional or unstable at the end of a relationship? Do you have examples of women killing men's pets as they leave relationships? I'm sure it happens, but I cannot think of a single example, whereas I know of several situations where the sexes were reversed.

You aren't listening to what she's saying. You're expecting her to directly quote you instead of paraphrasing. Do you or do you not believe in Self-ID? Because that's essential to your core argument. She is extrapolating information based on what you say, while you're intentionally challenging her extrapolation without refuting her points.

I would stick with gentle guiding questions, but only so long as she brings the topic up with you. Otherwise, I say leave it be for now. Does she share her blog with you? I'm surprised you found it.

If it does come up, I'd play the part of an outsider. "Why do you identify as non-binary and trans?" "What does it mean to be non-binary?" "Does that make me non-binary? I don't think I identify with femininity." "Are tomboys non-binary? Are butch lesbians? How do they know?"

Let her walk you through her ideology and gently probe the weak points with further questions. Don't approach it as changing her mind, just seek to understand. Get into the mindset of challenging your own ideology and let logic guide the conversation.

My dad died of the same type of cancer a couple years before Magdalen. My mother and I cared for him up until three days before his death. I think about his decline. The first time he couldn't recognize one of us. Sitting and eating with him because he feared he was being poisoned and only trusted me to protect him. Watching his body waste away to nothing. The first fall. The day he no longer understood how to use a spoon. His first accident.

My dad was a proud, fiercely independent man and I loved him with every fiber of my being. When Magdalen was diagnosed, my heart broke for her and her loved ones. Fuck cancer. Fuck brain cancer in particular. May those who loved her find peace.

I've done some digging on this. I heard the same thing from my husband when I stopped shaving. Fortunately he said it jokingly and encouraged me to do whatever is most comfortable, but I was curious. I've seen studies that indicate this, but the degree of the increase seems to be negligible in most cases. I haven't found a study I would consider totally conclusive and meaningful. On the other hand, telling your girl that she she should shave to deal with body odor seems like a good way to give her a complex toward her body hair. It's like, even if it does make a small difference, the overwhelming majority of body odor is just going to be regular bathing, deodorant, and personal hygiene.

Women coming from less "woke" regions of the world generally don't buy into this trans bullshit narrative to begin with. They are much more aware of the sex differences between men and women and the oppression of women based on their sex.

I stopped shaving almost entirely when I got a puppy ten months ago. I was getting up constantly and dealing with 3am and 8am baths because of constant diarrhea (parasites). No more accidents, but I've found I just can't be bothered anymore. Occasionally I'll shave just to "start over", but it's every two months if that.

I think there's a time and place for the finger pointing and the mockery women have for men who pantomime womanhood. Derision is a powerful social tool and the costumery that womanhood has become is an insult in itself. We need to talk about how bullshit and laughable a lot of trans ideology and behavior is, but trans is just so goddamn loud and endless. There are things which have a much greater impact on our lives that we struggle to talk about because we're losing so much energy on the unending parade of absolute fucking nonsense that the liberal left have embraced to the detriment of women.

God, is there anything less productive to meaningful change than postmodernism? Ugh. It's important to talk about what it means to be a woman, but as soon as men joined the conversation, as it always goes, the conversation became a black hole of women's time and energy for the coddling of men.
