Oh my God! They removed 89 comments, articles and links though I followed their content policy! I had a run in with a moderator for a group and he banned me because I was upset that someone else had attacked me in an unbelievable manner calling me the C word then saying when someone's a C that means their mother was too! The commentor was some big reddinator and I got banned from the sub, But I didn't know I'd been banned from all the subs I had joined over the past 4 years! Including all of the stories I'd posted that were written by other people! I dropped off of reddit a while back but still, this is upsetting. It means months of work came to nothing because I didn't realize I had been shadow banned by every subred I participate in!

It’s Lazy and Unethical to Earn From What Other People Submit To You Anonymously by Nechama in Writing

[–]Nechama[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Okay, obviously this is intended as tongue in cheek and not meant to say that anyone said this directly. On Medium I noticed several pieces where the person basically said for people to submit stories to her and she would then add them to her publication where she would be paid every time they clapped for each of these other writer's stories. "why would someone send/share anything online and not expect it to circulate through the internet without the possibility of monetary gain." I would never expect everything I've ever put online would be taken and published under someone else's name for them to earn money from. In fact, that is called plagiarism. You can't just republish anything you want that is written by someone else to earn from. "She also thinks that even if someone is aware of this that its still wrong because they go unaccredited" I think that in terms of what we write, that we don't need let others take what we write so they can earn from it while we get nothing. I suppose if you really want to do all the work while someone else sits back and earns from it you can, but the point is that this implies that it's fine to do and I think most people would argue it is not. I have no idea how Santa got into the discussion of this article. Regarding the Happy Birthday song and the copyright issue, I don't think that the people the people singing happy birthday were doing so specifically to make money from not did they ask the person who wrote it specifically to do so then give it to them so they could earn money off of it, so this is not analogous.

I think you might want to take another look at the Pyramid of Debate before commenting on other articles.

Saidit is worse than reddit with censorship. by Troll in SaidIt

"Leftists are a cancer - which is absolutely true objectively speaking." I think you need to look up the definitions of objective and subjective. This is an opinion not a fact. The question was how did these subsaidits make the world a better place? Helping to anger people and divide the left and right more and promoting ideas that leftists are a cancer IMO (see how that works?) doesn't make anything better at all, it all just creates more hatred.

Yeah, it was a pretty intense episode. Sometimes I think that the show was over the top but they also explored some pretty serious issues and did it in a way that made them more accessible to people who may not have understood the significance of them before. When you mention thinking it went to far and being Dutch is this because the Netherlands is more sexually progressive than the U.S.?

[–]Nechama[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yep but with the push to publish or perish and editors wanting to publish unique and interesting findings it's not hard to imagine that studies are rushed, bias can enter into them or some may even fudge results since negative findings aren't generally published. Of course, when these studies are used as the basis of making treatment decisions for example, this can be a big problem.

He also advocated writing drunk so that may have accounted for him writing standing up and in the nude! The story - not sure why almost shooting himself every morning would prove anything positive or give him a reason to go on living. If he knew the pull of the trigger, how after some time of doing this every morning and thus learning even better the pull of the trigger, did he then shoot himself? Just a question - not sure if you mean this story has already been written in it's entirety or given the note to self you are planning on writing it and only part is written or something similar. There is also a book called I Killed Hemingway where someone else is supposedly responsible for all of Hemingway's claimed exploits and just allows Hemingway to take all the credit eventually shooting him.

I agree. To be able to know that nothing has been hidden from you in an effort to try to make you stay in the fold through ignorance is wonderful. They get to experience what they choose to experience and then make an informed decision as to what they believe and what they want their life to be like. Although people have accused the Amish of being "backwards" this is one of the most progressive ideas I have heard about from any religion.

I'm not sure they can learn empathy. If empathy can be taught (I don't know what I think about this), they would have to care enough about others and having relationships with others based on something other than their desires to want to learn it. The ones I've met at least don't even seem to understand such a thing as empathy or real feelings for other based on something other than manipulating them to serve their own wants and needs exists.

Such a great system! Focusing from day one on positivity and making sure everyone knows this is a non-bullying, no attacks allowed website. I was on another website (which shall remain nameless) where someone disagreed with something I said but having no justifiable response instead attacked me, my background, my culture and even attacked and insulted my mother! When I requested that the moderator delete that comment they called me a baby, said I needed to fight my own battles and to fight fire with fire. That was when I decided to look for another platform. Thanks for setting up one that will tolerate no abuse. The hierarchy you post for everyone is great!

Signed up yesterday. So glad there's an alternative to Reddit. I was getting tired of all the negativity. I love that there are no downvotes here. It's so much better to have upvotes as you can tell popular posts and if you don't like something you can just not vote for it instead of bashing it with a down vote. I think downvotes also lead to manipulation of posts by being able to increase the discrepancy between posts making it easier to force a post higher by forcing others lower. I also really like the opt out vs. opt in system. After a year I still have no idea what all the subreddits were and kept being surprised when I found a new one that I was interested in. This way you can see right away what's available and then create a list of all those you want by slowly excluding those you don't. This means you won't miss any you want to follow. Thanks for creating this! I can't wait to learn more about it and read what others have posted here.
