I never did fit in or think like everyone else... even when I was trying to be invisible and seem docile to the "norm" I knew better than to open my mouth and cause a shitstorm with my "edgy" researched knowledge or cynical takes that would just alarm or anger too many.

Most 'intellectuals' are blindered idiots or terrified of losing status,

Most 'political idealists' are fanatical partisans or in severe denial about history and reality.

The majority of upper class peeps are entirely driven by fitting in and dutifully following any authority figure, from an e-celeb to the DoD, without questioning anything ever. And shunning those who do not comply- very much like the above two groups do.

Most other "normal" middle class don't have the mental acuity OR ability to care about more than the shallowest trivia or what already has had an immediate and direct influence on their own life things....

While much of the working class or poor do not care to expend the slightest mental energy outside day to day life required thought, actively encourage their offspring to not think outside the fed narratives box, and gladly escape from reality with hobbies or intoxicants rather than face what is happening around them or seek paths out of the drudgery job rut.

And far too few of the last two groups can put the pieces together even if they DO, and rethink the narratives they have been fed.

Now THIS is true.

That the situation could be anticipated by actual smart and covetous parties is beyond doubt.

That some level of influence on resources given or response restrictions made were involved is completely viable.

That the sacred and historic sites legally limited their reach for seizing land is facts.

That they hoped for conditions that could be exploited, conditions likely at least once every 5 years if not more frequently depending on weather cycle patterns- definitely a reasonable suspicion to hold.

But consider that virtually EVERY small biz in old town are the middle to upper middle and even elite levels of Maui HI, as were the bulk of the marina boats...

This took out far more than just the majority of the locals housing and schools built on the lower reclaimed fields.

Homes with numerous abandoned cars on all the surrounding roads, and piles of "stuff" in most yards as well as "sheds" built of scrap wood and random tarps.

Note that the locals housing development area that did NOT burn were in considerably nicer condition with limited plantings, wider setbacks off better roads, and few abandoned cars caught on Google etc.

This hard reality MUST BE ACCEPTED.

Why did the expensive houses along the ocean strip not burn outside old town?

Why did it stop where the bulk of the industrial business sites were below Kaanapali resorts?

Quite simply:

sparse burn materials at setbacks with wide roads or canals, planted flora and their water content, and tall concrete retaining walls and roof building materials.

The main highway it burned right onto south of Lahaina has scrub grasses and barren areas on the inland side vs dense and very dead pineapple bush fields, with a continuous high stucco finish concrete wall on the ocean side of the hwy, combined with massively lush plantings in front of it and even more watered backyards on the protected side.

And just like that one remodeled home IN Lahaina that didn't burn they pretty much all have steel roofs.

Ditto the routine big grocery store site that only got scorched in town, and the business complex north. They ALSO had huge parking lots surrounding them and all but burn proof from exterior source heat or flames construction.

This is the same reason MY local hospitals got out unscathed with just trees and landscape surrounding charred in '17, and they were right up at the burn zone line and created buffers themselves.

Add there are deep canals north of old town that were clearly a firebreak point, and you can see why Kaanapali was much safer from spread.

There aren't 20M in Ukr currently.

In fact, there may well have been far less than 30M PRE-2022.

Why do I say this?

A There has not been a real census since 2001.

A1 22 years ago they claimed 48M, heavily clustered in the 15-50 ages- but with a notable steady dip for ages 18-35.

A2 That 2001 census was a bit iffy as to numbers; the UN tended to be honest most of the time and say est data, perhaps included many of those living abroad already.

B Birthrates IN UKR had been plummeting for over 15 years at that point.

C The levels newly HIV infected pre-teens to young adults has been catastrophic since the early 90s, and dramatically higher ratios of females to males than any nation but some African ones.

C1 That this is ongoing in urban youth there is demonstrated by the western govt health depts panicking over the influx of HIV+ teens and adults into their nations since early 2022, with no process of identifyiny or testing/filtering before they are accepted.

C2 And it kills there- both from being combined with IV drug use and from the overt lack of concern for those engaged in that and the sex trafficking trade, and from stillbirths of those remaining in the Ukr.

G By late Summer 2022 at least 7M Ukrainians had fled west from western portions of the Ukr, and the total gone is likely closer to 12M now.

G1 Many were young adults to mid 40s parents and from west Ukr cities, with plenty of the under 35 males going too- make no mistake, the local reports in the EU have demonstrated that strongly- as well as the vast majority of age 0 to 45 females.

Therefore, the entire basis of the starting point of even BODIES in the Ukr is off:

1 my estimate is they began this conflict at 28M total population, a quarter of which were under 12 or over 65),

2 they had reached the point of no viability for wartime forces at least 6 months ago, and probably longer.

2a 450k of males aged 17-65 dead in just over 18 months is a catastrophic ratio, but especially when you look at:

2b a likely real remaining population of under 10M, a quarter too young or old even for them and probably over half female with many of those old too.

Some kind of soldering created short at the cassette controller, so the speaker system has internal feedback sound and no voice commands options.

That same cassette issue causes it to have an internal Error Cannot Read for the other sensor systems supposedly designed to Help Me Drive and Find You.

Prev leasor's Apple is the only tech it will recognize, and refuses to purge it.

Problem 2 means it won't connect via wifi or Bluetooth or any other way to my Android or anything else, so the direct plug ins for any tech do not work, just the simple charger.

No cameras internally, and my center display pretty much stays on Audio System Off.

Maui is an island County, and in geography is essentially TWO islands with an isthmus connecting them.

A recent DT San Jose walkthrough, midday during the week by a Bay Area local that has been doing this in our cities for a bit now, showed all but abandoned conditions, most buildings boarded up, those not almost entirely For Lease signs, construction chain link up blocking off a huge run of sidewalk and parking along a massive building- that turns out all but burned to the ground other than the facade in ... 2020.

Very few people at all and those seen or heard were clearly "sketchy" as he commented after, car volume was shockingly light even just cutting across dt on the major routes. The cheerful Ding of the light rail periodically was downright jarring in contrast.

I thought it was perhaps struggling post rigid lockdowns in the County, but this.... this was horrifically bad.

Bad policies since at least the 80s, and greedy pol families who owned or bought big chunks during Obama to try and upsell dt (after spending enormous amounts of State and Fed money "rejuvenating" it) only briefly caused a couple years here and there of an active and busy and at least sorta safe dt core some of the time.

But ot was just cover from the slow slide of losing every small biz and tech periphery and start up- and all those employees and customers and services and restaurants etc they spent money in.

Had they quite literally JUST NOT PUSHED OUT the big player campuses back in the 80s and 90s in favor of vaporware and tech bro online product it would be an insanely profitable and booming tax and good jobs area.

I am ALSO a wildfire survivor, and witnessed up close the exact "bizarre" results of a wind driven plus powerlines wildfire sweeping down a mountainside into town.

I watched it form, burn, change directions when the wind did, roars right on past some spots and turn to melted puddles and ashes others.

Wind velocity at location, other structures, landscaping moisture or retaining walls vs none, subtle geographic or flora details that protected or nuked buffers, animals surviving "impossible" conditions, items that looked entirely unscathed surrounded by scorched melted remains and ash... that literally dissolved once touched.

What???! I thought this was a personal anecdote, and was amazed as our family broke down on the grade above Grants Pass in 1971.

And yep, 8AM Monday the town sprang to life instantly- we were already packed back up and at the Bronco, and my mom had stripped the beds and piled the linens for them before we left the room.

Russia does not do mass rushes, ever. Masses troops they do stage tend to fall into 2 categories: 1 to force Ukr to rapidly move their own forces to a far distant spot on the line of conflict from current positions. 2 behind entrenched defense lines to hold or reinforce against any attempts to attack the line beyond the greyzone of the open areas before first defense lines.

I would say the first is happening in part, but it is also possible that somehow additional entrenched defense lines went in by Russian forces in that Lyman with no reporting on that and they are now staged just behind them...

An oft overlooked aspect of productive organizations or actual producing is keeping track of essential paperwork/plans and keeping everyone focused on the necessary tasks/work to reach the goals.

Without that person or small crew minding the ship it is likely to founder.

So someone with your innate nature and skills is critical to almost every form of organization of more than say 5 people, small working when the BOSS is like you. Quite literally.

Kaiser here only very reluctantly ever STOPPED requiring masks on anyone entering a facility- and that was just this Spring.

Also, I would not be even slightly surprised to find the Kaiser facilities in San Francisco never stopped. They were downright rabid over testing every body before entry, including employees who had just left the facility for a brief period after being tested upon first arriving.

According to a report by Russian TV channel Tsargrad late in the evening, the plane in which Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin and Wagner founder Dmitri Utkin are believed to have died was blown up in flight before it crashed. The commanders of the Wagner Group intend to issue a joint statement in the near future.

The TV channel Tsargrad, citing sources in the commission of inquiry set up by the Russian Aviation Inspectorate, reports that the private plane that crashed in the Tver region in the early evening was blown up in the air. As reported, according to Rosawiazija, there were three crew members and seven passengers on board the private Embraer, including Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin and Wagner founder Dmitri Utkin.

Meanwhile, it is reported that the Wagner Group Commanding Council has held an emergency meeting. The Council intends to make "decisions on how to proceed in light of the confirmed information about the death of Yevgeny Prigozhin and his deputies". According to media reports, a video message will then be published in which the commanders of the PMC "Wagner" will make a joint statement. This should happen shortly.
