I think it's unfair to call them men. They are males, and therefore not women, that is something I'll get behind, but I think calling them trans women instead is a very fair compromise. I mean, given that they go through everyday life as women and are treated as such by most of the people they encounter, they are in fact somewhere in between. They should not take our place, and neither of them wants to, but I think it's kind of in bad faith to just call them men.

I actually feel pretty bad for those genuine (lack of a better word) trans women. Seems like their identity is being attacked and appropriated too. I gather many of them, however we may feel about them or think of their reasons, were actually just people trying to live their best life. Some of them seem pretty appalled by the current situation. It's a sad time we're living in.

The simple answer is that it seems a lot of men have repressed a lot of misogyny from the past century and losing their all powerful status : Rowling is getting slammed while Gervais can get away for the simple reason that she's woman and he's a man.

I've realized lately that the whole issue which is at hand here is that men/males have always gotten to define everything, from their point of view, and that includes women. They always described us and studied us but they never thought to ask us how we would define ourselves. This whole issue right now seems to be that trans women, who are male, and their men allies, cannot seem to wrap it around their head that they CANNOT completely redefine what we are in order to appropriate our realities.

Think of someone like Contrapoints, who makes YT videos of over one hour to explain what it means to be a woman. It doesn't seem like he ever stops to think that maybe, just maybe, it would be nice if he spoke to at least a few of us about it, but no. He gets to define what a woman is because he thinks he knows because he is convinced of being one.

YT just sent me to a video of some gay man who "explained/proved", that JK was transphobic. His entire argument was centered around the fact that refusing to use "preferred pronouns" and "deciding which sex a person is" (I'm serious) is effectively a disrespect of that person's dignity and existence.

Last week I had someone who describes themselves as a trans woman tell me that he was a woman in the same way I was and that he knew he was for the same reasons I do (first of all, how are you assuming for what reasons I know I'm a woman ?). I asked that he define what a woman is, and he flat-out refused since doing so would be justifying his existence to me. He is asking that I, a woman, acknowledge that he is a woman, even though he is a male, and that he didn't have to justify his demand. I should just do it, otherwise I'm denying his existence.

A common point of all those people is that they are all males who not only seem incapable of accepting that women should be able to define themselves and decide who gets to "join the club", for lack of a better expression. But they are also completely ignoring the fact that to attempt to define us without asking our opinion. The fact that demanding we let them into our spaces and force ourselves to doublethink and doublespeak. The fact that they're basically saying the need for validation of trans males is more important than all of those things are for half of humanity... is pretty much an assault on our dignity and on our existence. Because if a woman is just some sort of nebulous concept that can be redefined at the whims of males, then what are we ? Women do not exist.

JK committed the atrocious crime of stating in public that we shouldn't lose everything for refusing to be defined by men/males and let those males appropriate our very existence. Problem is she's a woman.

Sorry, that was kind of GC.

One of them told me that the other day. He repeatedly refused to explain to me what a woman was, alleging that he didn't have to justify his existence to me.
Then explained that he was assigned male but that he was in fact female and therefore a woman (because he knew it).
At that point I just quit before I got banned from Reddit. Seems like it never crossed his mind that his reducing our whole biological existence and social experience as a result of this biological reality to some all-inclusive concept was insulting as fuck to us.
What's even weirder is he was post-op... So if you're a female why did you need surgery to become a woman ? How do you become a female if you always were one ? None of this makes sense. All they care about is themselves and their own comfort, they have zero concern nor respect towards us. Sometimes it seems like they're the ones not recognizing our existence. It sounds like we don't have feelings and fears too. This movement is completely dehumanizing woman.

Short text just before : "Last week a fan asked me what my opinion was about JK Rowling given that I am such a huge fan of HP. I thought I might aswell make that clear : I do NOT support those opinions. The goal of feminism should not be to oppress trans people. I am against her statements, but I do not wanna let her ruin all the joy that HP has brought me and still brings me in my life. Trans women are women, Joanne, get over it.
And now the comic. I'm not sure if this isn't gonna be lost in translation, so I'll just specify that Rowling's tone in this is supposed to be whiny and stubborn.
Square 1 : Yeah, well, this is 2020 ! It's not too much that mentalities are evolving. The [missing word, I think she mentioned in the comments it was supposed to say "persons"] of the LGBTQ+ communities, for me, have — Square 2 : JK, screeching over fence : HEY !! Listen to my opinion on the subject !! Person 1 : FFS Joanne give us a fucking break ! Person 2 : Oh no, not Rowling again ! Person 3 : Don't rich ladies have anything to do at all ?

Square 3 : JK : You have no right to ignore me ! I signed a petition !! Boy : Get the hose.

This person describes themselves as a feminist, and I know she is also a woman.
For some reason, though, when a woman says something about women's rights that doesn't cater to demands of TRAs, she finds it acceptable to depict that woman in a stereotypical, hysterical woman who won't shut up while everyone else is being reasonable and happy... And the punchline is she gets what she deserves, that is she gets assaulted, and spraying her with a hose like a dog is funny. 2020.

I feel genuinely sad for this person. I mean, Jesus, the amount of distress in that post ! Seems like they feel the absolute worst. I do feel for this. I understand that the while story is pretty pathetic, but it would be borderline sociopathic not to feel genuinely concerned for them. Fuck.
However it does provide a lot of perspective regarding the toxic character of the ultra validating, toxic character of trans ideology, queer groups like the one this person is a part of. They are guided into a delusion that only proves harmful in real life settings. FFS, I have FTM friends who seem pretty happy with their transition and good for them, but part of the reason for this is that they have come to terms/peace with the fact that they are NOT biologically male and that gay men will NOT, in most circumstances, consider them as sexual partners.
I believe it is okay to be trans if it makes you feel better, but being led to believe that what's in your head will necessarily and automatically make you that in the eyes of others is extremely dangerous. This poster is a great example of this. Why are people leading others down that road?? It's okay to use preferred pronouns in order to avoid triggering one's dysphoria if they have it. It is not, however, okay, to lead that person to believe that everyone will see the world in their way. I'm sure the person speaking on the other side of the door meant no harm. Fuck, fuck, fuck. What is this?!

I don't mean to derail with "but heterosexuals too 😭😭 include us !!!! 😭" but I guess I will to an extent and add that what you just said about not being interested in an amalgamation of mixed-sex characteristics pretty much applies to most people regardless of which side of the fence they find themselves on and which way they look.

I got into an argument with a trans man on Twitter who was giving lesbians crap for not being interested in trans women. After telling me he was into girls he got annoyed when I said to him that to me his being female would be a dealbreaker in my case.

Truth is, as interested as I may be in a trans man who passes, I'm simply not attracted to females. But neother would I be interested in a male who has altered his appearance drastically in order to appear female... It seems logical to me that most people are attracted to a combination of primary and secondary sex characteristics... Doesn't that make sense ?

Maybe that's just my cis white privilege speaking, but I come from a very diverse background and have changed in locker rooms where Black women would walk around butt naked. Never felt threatened. White transwomen, however, can't say I felt at ease.

Thank you so much for giving me this input ! I'm a literary student and aspiring author, so the tendency to go overboard is definitely sort of a "flaw" of mine in a get to the point context. That was definitely useful and I will work on it keeping those things in mind when doing so. Thank you very much again ! ❤️

[–]bellatrixbells 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Read that quote from Mouncey : 'And the reason I'm not liked is because I told our manager, and by extension those players, exactly where he and they could go in trying to tell me where I could change and shower.' And now this : "Some of the very same people who were saying it was bullshit that I couldn’t play AFL Women’s league were some of the same voices within the team who were trying to dictate where I could shower and change. While those people then were supposedly in my corner as I fought the AFL, they were more than able to justify their own position about me to themselves because in their minds “they aren’t like those people, this is a reasonable thing to expect”.

This is going to happen over and over, and eventually you become very comfortable in saying no to people, regardless of how forceful you need to be. "

In short, it is okay for him to be forceful and say no to women's personal boundaries and sense of safety until we let him in our sports and intimacies regardless of how uneasy we feel. It's okay because he is being "true to himself" by claiming to be a woman and therefore any woman who objects is an opponent to be beat. Are you sure this person has no malicious intents ?

Positioning marriage as a desire for women rather than a necessity for men was a brilliant move by the patriarchy by WhyDoesHeDoThat in GenderCritical

[–]bellatrixbells 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

That's what they say and it some regards it is that. But originally it was more of a pretext. The thing is marriage "protects" a woman because a married woman is technically less likely to be raped for example (by someone who is not her owner, I man husband), since men are taught to respect the property of other men. That's part of the reason why many communities, most notably the Jewish and the (Hindi ?) will "mark" married women in public, as it indicates which women you will suffer consequences for if you touch them. I know how crazy I sound. Point is it always comes down to territory marking by men for men.

How is this viewed as anything positive ? And what does a woman in a relationship with a transbian get from this.. ? A weird ass grown up man child ?? Isn't that the exact opposite of what most grown-up women want ? More and more it seems they view us as tough we exist solely in relation to them and we have no will, needs or feelings of our own...?

I see your point, but it can be a trap. I mean, you're still taking up a legal contract that can make you liable for a lot and might prevent you from ever being able to dissociate completely from the other party if they decide to be a jerk five years from now... and we've all seen our shares of ugly divorces too. It can be a moneyhole.

As a francophone evolving in an English speaking world I'm pretty annoyed with the expression "femme". Like, femme literally means a woman in French. In French (and in Creole communities, correct me potential Haitians if I'm wrong) when we say that a woman is "trop femme", it literally means she is "such a woman" and it's always in a sexual way. Being "femme" is basically being the "correct" way of being female, that is sexy and hot and basically available.
So I kinda get what it means in English, but I find it fucking offensive.

Their whole ideology is made around hate and violence. Their sense of worth seems to come almost only from putting others down, either for not being woke enough or for imagined transphobia. Even among themselves there doesn't seem to be a positive climate at all. It's always about being nasty and mean. Seems exhausting.

Excuse me but your comment makes it sound like most people with cluster B personality disorders turn out to be predatory and even rapists and that is both totally incorrect and wildly offensive. As someone with a diagnosed cluster B personality disorder, I've attended therapy for several years and I can assure you that I have never met anyone who was predatory, and certainly no rapists. Antisocial and, to a given extent, narcissistic personality disorders can definitely cause people to be "creeps" but if your point was right then probably a quarter of the people on this planet would be a predator or rapist. Also given that most people with BPD and HPD are women, that would mean most of those predators would be females. That's not right at all.
