Dear Friend,
As we continue this Lenten journey towards solemnly celebrating our Lord’s passion and glorious resurrection, I’m humbled to write to you some thoughts about the current state of our lost, broken world and yet, more importantly, the hope and ultimate salvation we long for through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
There is no denying that society—worldwide—has entered a perilous, dark time.
Our precious unborn continue to be slaughtered for convenience in the name of “choice” at the sickening rate of 200,000 babies per day globally (and that’s according to WHO statistics). Euthanasia is being promoted openly where legally permitted and covertly where not, cloaked with the expression “dying with dignity.” The globalist cabal are trying to strip our inalienable rights and recreate a serf class to serve their elitist interests. And woke activists relentlessly push any way they can in the name of equity and inclusion, backed by an institutional culture that silences honest debate and brutally cancels anyone who dares to differ.
It’s hard to believe that the moral state of humanity could degrade this far in only a few decades. However, it was all masterfully planned, with the leftist infiltration and corruption of government, academia, medicine, Big Pharma, Big Tech, the justice system and even Christ’s own beloved Church.
But we have reason to be truly hopeful and joyful in this mire and must take the opportunity to show God’s loving presence in us to all whom we encounter.
I can only try to imagine what it must have been like for our Lord’s closest followers, especially our Blessed Mother, to know He was indeed the long-awaited Messiah and yet see Him abducted in the dark of night, unfairly tried in a corrupt politicized trial, brutally tortured, and put to death like the worst of criminals. Possessing only human understanding, no wonder most of the apostles ran away in fear and shamefully abandoned Him when He needed them most.
Fast-forward to present day, and here we are again: Christianity is the most persecuted religion in the world, by far. Sadly, more Christians were martyred in the last century than in all previous centuries combined: 45 million people in the 20th century alone vs 70 million in total.
This should really be no surprise, however, since our Lord did clearly prophesy: “If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you” (John 15:20).
Paraphrasing from Luke 9:23, as we struggle to “take up our cross and follow Him,” the Lord calls us to remain faithful, no matter what comes, as authentic, courageous witnesses to our faith. During the COVID “pandemic” alone, how many of us suffered white martyrdom at the hands of trusted family, friends, employers, schools, and the medical system we believed had our best interests at heart?
But no matter. As when the apostles were infused with the fire of the Holy Spirit on the first Pentecost 2,000 years ago, we too must fearlessly use His gracious gifts to go out boldly into the world and proclaim Truth – no fear or cowardly excuses!
Yes, times are indeed quite challenging, but we must keep fighting the spiritual battle to call out the blatant lies parroted by mainstream media talking heads, and continue to wake more people up to what’s really going on behind the curtain.
We must look at things from the perspective of eternity. Whatever happens in this life, no matter how difficult things get, it’s only a brief stay compared to eternity! We must therefore remain joyfully focused on our heavenly goal and not be demoralized by earthly struggles. Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus!
You and I are indeed blessed to be living in such a challenging time, for we have a very special grace. As our Lord said: “Blessed are your eyes, for they see, and your ears, for they hear. Truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it” (Matthew 13:16-17).
And if I may say, we are even more blessed with the opportunity to courageously proclaim and reflect Truth whenever possible in our seemingly insignificant everyday lives – all for His greater glory, amen!
May our Lord and Savior bestow Easter blessings on you and your family.
