    I like the clearer icons. I just don't like that they're grey by default (like what bobbobbybob said).

    It does, but the contrast I still think it's missing something. Maybe it's a little too low contrast?

    Yeah, I do feel the same, cleaner but there is some contrasts missing. It's mostly the face that could do with some tweaking, the bulb is okay IMO.

    But maybe it's that we aren't used to change, lets see after a week if it happens to grow on us.

    u/enefi made the new icons for us cause the old ones were blurry.

    I agree they need to be less film noir when unchecked but that's just a tweak needed, over all it's going in a good direction imo.

    I'd like to see the bulb larger, without rays when off then with thicker more visible rays when on, for both light and dark versions.

    I like that the rays are white over dark and black over light.

    Bonus points for adding a central white gradient from the center of the bulb outwards to yellow.

    IMO the face needs a dark outline in light mode when voted active. I'd also change the non-voted face to a neutral expression (o_o).

    Alternative to the grey icons could be a yellow circle and bulb silhouette outline.

    I'd like to see both the unvoted inactive light versions be lighter grey and dark versions darker grey for more contrast when voted active.

    I could have done all this faster than it took to type this.

      A lot of us don't have good enough eyesight to think anything of the old icons being blurry. I didn't either. But when it was mentioned I noticed.

      D3 said something about an accident. I don't think there was an easy way to clean up the originals.

      This place isn't run like a corporation (eg. Conde Naste). Someone proposed a good approach to icons and it was accepted.

      The small icons were blown up and thus blurry on phones.

      Making them vector images would have been easy. Making the code accept vector images may have been another thing all together.

      I like how the old ones were so bright they could make the background seem black. With such power, they can afford to stay yellow even when inactive.

      I like the grey then colored approach. The voting buttons should not stand out on the page, they are boring and always there and expected. The titles and the thumbnails should pop.

      Me too. It's an excellent approach, and one could argue that this encourages others to vote on posts, to brighten up the page. And I find it looks even better in 'dark' mode (white text on dark background).

      The old ones look just as bad if not worse. Why is it so hard for saidit admin to find a good looking light and laugh icon? Seems weird. Makes the entire site look bad.
