They literally don't know better.
Imagine just hearing something from the TV and just accepting it as fact. Just hide that voice that question things and just take away any sense of time. The average consumer just doesn't have the hardware to think outside of their own bubble because people fill their lives up with so many distractions that are necessary to live healthy lives. A one chain x because of y blame is the best you can expect from the masses and any further thought is too much effort.
What voting does is give the illusion of responsibility so the ruling elite can get away with murder whilst the people just blame each other without looking any further.
