A peace treaty will formally assign Crimea and the Donbas to Russia. Ukraine will keep the rest. Putin will declare victory, and the world will grudgingly accept that he got something but less than he wanted.

Russia will take all the parts of Ukraine where there are a majority of ethnic Russians, in particular Donbas and Odessa, leaving Ukraine landlocked, and giving Russia a direct border with the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (Transnistria).

The government in Kiev will collapse, replaced by an ineffective or puppet government that will not threaten Russia any longer.

In the chaos, Hungary will swoop in to take back Transcarpathia, Poland will take back parts of western Ukraine (which they already considered) and Romania will take back Bukovina, all in the name of "protecting" Hungarian/Polish/Romanian minorities in Ukraine from the threat of Russia and the Ukrainian far-right militias. The EU and the USA will blame Russia for forcing them to do this, and recognise the take over.

The end result is that what's left of Ukraine will be half the size it was, with a third the population, bankrupt and torn apart by far-right terrorists.

Thanos was a Malthusian retard who couldn't understand to just double the resources and/or teach self-reliance to the population so that resources allocation would never become a problem. But hey, I guess that's what makes him the bad guy and a liberal's darling.
