As a white male, I can say its mostly out of ignorance. Just being a white male doesn't get you a pass with all the other supreme people either. Luckily where I live racists and bigots dont fare too well, and my community is all inclusive. The only rule is dont be an asshole. If you're an asshole and someone calls you out or does something to you, you can bet its because your an asshole, not because ypu're different in anyway. Thats just in my community, which is more or less an anarchistic punk rock grass-roots anti-establishment community of people I CHOSE to allow into my life. Also in Canada if that helps.
