Streets? Rifle.

House? Shotgun all day no question.

They make inserts so you can shoot any caliber from a shotgun as well. You can also just reload the shells with rocks if you had to unlike a rifle, but I would def carry a rifle if I had one.

whatever you can find ammo for cheaper/ whatever ammo you can home produce easier.

Its not really useful if you have to sparingly use the weapon. Id rather worry about the long term use cases. For my case a shotgun as its easy to procure and produce ammo for it with a simple press.
