Good! Shop is picking back up, got some cross stitch patterns to digitise and sell so now I need a second shop, dog is successfully cancer free and his eczema is under control.

Nearly got myself yesterday with the little axe splitting wood but only killed a pair of pants. Good times. Winter always means an annoying need to suddenly up my calories or everyone starts doing very unsubtle hugs that are really an investigation into ~did this dumbass get all boney let me feel~ 🙄

Anniversary and birthday next month to look forward to! Gonna make a massive batch of xiaolong bao, get my favourite shochu and rum, and swan around in my fanciest dresses.

Shochu! 😋 On my list -- learning how to make umeshu from a friend. We have a few markets that sell ume, I just have to remember to get them when they're in season. 🥂

That's so great about work, it's wonderful to be busy with a passion! And I'm so happy to hear your dog is doing much better, that's fantastic! Contrarily, that's horrifying with the axe 😬 Yeesh. RIP pants. And RIP privacy.

Yay for double the upcoming fun! I love your party planning style 🎉

My own fault with the axe, wasn’t paying attention. Least they were just some daggy old trackpants.

we couldn’t be happier about dog!! He’s our sweet silly old boy and I’d sell my hair and blood to keep him healthy.

Oh boy I hope that it’s worth selling patterns! If I could turn that into a living I’d be the luckiest woman alive. Could always go into party planning if it doesn’t work out hahah

Good! Fortunately. Still cautious and masking up in public, but meeting up with friends again here and there (vaccination has progressed well where I live). Having a Love/Bugger-Off relationship with a local doe who was a fawn last year and came back to sample the hostas. She's sooooo cute.

Better safe than sorry, but that's wonderful that things are getting good enough where you live that you can visit with friends! But your relationship with that deer might be the most adorable thing I've ever heard, though. 🥰

She's so sweet, it's hard to stay mad at her. Though I am caging some vulnerable little shrubs and spraying the hostas with smelly deer repellent when I remember. 🦌

Good. In a much better mood since the situation seems to be improving. The pandemic was really wearing on me. I'm fully vaccinated as of yesterday. It's been two weeks since my second shot. It's weird how used I got to wearing masks. I still feel kind of nervous about the idea of going out without one. So far I still wear them in stores and other indoor locations, but it will be nice when masks become a thing of the past.

Everyone else, have you been vaccinated? Did you have any reactions to the vaccine? I got the Moderna shots and aside from a sore arm, no other side effects.

I’m still waiting. Every time I’ve gone past the doctors doing vaccines there’s a lineup of old people. Australia really fucked up with distributing the vaccine and they’re just getting to high risk people locally. I’m low risk and leave the property like once a week, feels iffy jumping in, as much as I’d like to. More likely to carry a cold from the nephews to one of the old folks than to get covid, y’know?

Good to hear you didn’t cop side effects. Feels better with lockdown easing, less dystopian, huh?

[–]worried19 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

I didn't know that about Australia. I would have thought you guys would already be totally vaccinated down there. But it looks like cases are very low, so maybe your government isn't pushing it as fast as some others.

Feels better with lockdown easing, less dystopian, huh?

Yeah, although to be honest, most of my restrictions were self imposed. My state was not one of the ones that had heavy lockdowns. Americans as a whole have not been as cooperative with staying home or masking up as they could have been. My partner and I were mostly staying away of our own volition, not going to stores much, no restaurants or bars, no indoor socializing. Not even much outdoor socializing. I went to an outdoor restaurant with a few friends to celebrate a few weeks ago, and it felt weird. That was the first time I'd sat down at a restaurant to eat since March 2020.

Kudos for self imposing a lockdown. Not much of a prize for something so rough but at least you get to know you were an active part of the solution.

Hope the celebration went really well, long overdue to be able to eat with friends!

Straya is uh..kind of a shambles.

Yeah, neither of us wanted to catch it. Plus I've always been rules-oriented, so it was no big deal for me to impose restrictions on myself and keep to them.

We had a nice time at the dinner. It made me realize how much I missed socializing in restaurants and bars. I still haven't been to a bar. Actually the restaurant was also the first time I've had a beer in ages. We never drink at home, so I almost forgot what beer tasted like.

TIL a new word:

Glad it was a good time!

Oh gods I’m so bad at using slang and forgetting that it’s probably not international!

Probably not a bad thing to not drink at home. My MIL has a home bar and it’s funny af watching her try to balance her balance amongst the booze shelves.

[–]worried19 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Ha, it's good, though. I like to learn new slang.

Yeah, neither of us comes from big drinking families. My parents only drank on holidays or on rare occasions if we went out to a restaurant. I experimented some in high school and college, but was never a fan of getting wasted. I prefer a mild buzz.

Same. I’ll go over six drinks in a night for a special occasion but otherwise it’s just drinking one because I like the taste. Can’t do beer though. Spirits or terrible sweet white wine plz.

Honestly I kind of liked the masks, I didn't feel like I had to fake smile so much 😂 I noticed my allergies didn't act up at all last year, too. I'm going to miss that... but yay for getting vaccinated! That's a good thing. But the sore arm HURTS, like someone punched it. I got the Pfizer vaccines about a month ago, though most places and people where I live never took the pandemic very seriously and didn't believe it was real. No side effects besides the sore arm, although I was really listless--then again, that's not too abnormal.

That'll be so nice to go back to a semblance of normal, though! How will you celebrate your full vaccination and de-masking?

[–]worried19 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I hate the masks because it's hard to breathe in them. Although I admit they did make my face feel warmer in the winter.

But the sore arm HURTS, like someone punched it.

I noticed my arm hurt a lot more after the second shot. Not bad enough for painkillers, though. I was hoping for some side effects so I could tell the vaccine was working. I know everyone says it works even if you don't have any symptoms, but I felt better knowing that my body had some reaction to it.

How will you celebrate your full vaccination and de-masking?

I can't wait to get back to my family's vacation cabin at the lake. We're going later this month, and I hope we can get out there at least a few times this summer. None of us went last year because of the pandemic. I only saw my family a few times to boot. I missed getting together on a regular basis.

I can' t wait for masks to stop being mandatory. I haven' t gotten used to them at all, and while I wear them because of course I do, I can' t wait for me to be able to go outside and breathe without that thing on my face.

[–]worried19 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

100% with you on that. The mask mandate has been lifted where I am, but I guess businesses can make their own rules. My office still requires them for now.

Are masks required even outdoors where you are? I was only wearing them outside when other people got within 6 feet.

[–]Omina_SentenziosaSarcastic Ovalord 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

They are still mandatory outdoors. We are lifting everything else, including curfew, so they are talking about stopping the obligation for masks as well, but for now it' s still mandatory.

[–]worried19 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Wow, that's crazy. What about while exercising? Even California didn't require that.

I wonder if the countries with the harshest policies accomplished anything beyond frustrating their citizens. The USA was too lax, but the UK was strict, and they still had tons of illness and death.

[–]Omina_SentenziosaSarcastic Ovalord 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

You can take it off when you are excercising.

Right now, we are pretty good: but we still managed to have around 130000 deaths in the past year. Yesterday was the first day without certified deaths by COVID in my region since april 2020.

[–][deleted] 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I had the Pfizer series, though I was able to get pharmacy appointments quicker than state-sponsored ones. I had a very mild fever with the second, only lasted 24 hours. Friends who also got the Pfizer had varying experiences with the second dose, some just a sore arm, some mild flu-like symptoms.

[–]worried19 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Glad you didn't have too bad of a reaction. My friends and family pretty much reported the same. I think most of us had Moderna or Pfizer. Mild symptoms afterwards, nothing major.
