Worst Year for Squash - Every summer squash plant in my garden died: yellow squash and zucchini. The main cause of death appeared to be the vine borer. Pumpkin also died. Butternut suffered and has produced no fruit. They are wilting in the day even when it is not hot. Prepare for famine.

Garlic scapes are in season (Arkansas, USA) ~ Sometimes I like to fry some up with an egg. ~ The garlic plant is one of the easiest to grow, even surviving the winter. In the spring, the flower stalk shoots up (the scape). They remind me of green beans with a slight garlic flavor.

My garden has puddles of water from so much rain (in Arkansas). If my beds were not raised, the plants would be dying. Plants do not grow well in floods. Planting is delayed this year by rain and cold. The summer will be hot and dry, delaying harvest. Prepare for food shortages.
