What does everyone think of having a book club of sorts?

I was wondering, now that the book links are back up here, if we could read and discuss these books? I'm not taking the lead since I'm new to this but it would be great if someone more experienced in feminist literature would take charge of the book club and initiate it? Why not take the chance to support and promote female authors who stood up for women's rights? Just a suggestion to think of, in case it interests anyone.

Yes I am. I meant because I used to be a libfem and only got out of that whole mindset this past year. Someone more experienced would be better, right?

I would love that. I brought the idea up in GC a month ago, but suggested shorter readings by radfem philosophers to discuss that would be easier to finish. I posted Dworkin's I want a 24-hour truce during which there is no rape speech, and immediately got harassed for posting a NAMALT speech - apparently, because it was given to men? I didn't return to the idea because my mental health can't handle getting attacked for trying to do something for the community, but I'd definitely support and participate if anyone wanted to lead.

That sucks. But it's a great idea! Hopefully someone experienced takes the initiative. If not I'll start it up but leave book suggestions upto others.

Ok, I'm stepping forward. I need more community. Would someone be willing to post here or leave a link about how to handle this safely? I know it's not 1950 and we're not all secret communists, but I don't want anyone to worry or get burnt. I will research on my own and make a group for it. First things first, I'm not on facebook, so it will have to be somewhere else, and I'd be up for zooming when we meet. Would people be ok PMing me if they are interested? I'm dying to talk to someone about Irreversible Damage, to start (as indicated by the silly meme I just made for trollgc).

Goodreads allows members to create private or secret book club discussion groups that use a forum format similar to here and reddit.

That's great. Facebook is out of the question because most of us are connected to work people and stuff there. Can't we just have a sub here dedicated to GC readings or something? It's hard to form a group anywhere else but I will also do some research and see if there's a solution. I don't think too many of us would be okay video calling but let's figure it out as it goes.
