Debate with a TRA always boils down to the following issues -

"You can't debate the issues because you're harming trans people by talking about it." What an insidious way to get your agenda through.

We're supposed to believe that a person who identifies as Xer is doing it in good faith, while Piers is assumed to be identifying as a two-spirit penguin for malicious reasons.

I also always love "When trans people tell you they feel something, believe them." But when you point out that actual women feel in danger with them in their spaces, they hand wave it away as women being drama queens.

If you ask if TIMS should be allowed to participate win women's sports, you're questioning their "right to exist." Playing rugby is not synonymous with existing.

If you talk about having separate bathrooms they scream "BLACK WOMEN!"

Absolutely nothing about what they say is honest. It's all an appeal to emotion.

They tell people not to read gender critical feminists arguments in case it converts them, lol.

I actually feel saying that they hand wave it away as women being drama queens is being very generous. I've always seen them accuse women of being disgusting TERFs and become vitriolic, or at best accuse us of "fear-mongering".

An infuriating thing about the TIMs in women's sports debate is a lot of headlines frame it as if we're calling for trans people to be banned from sports. No one is saying that! We're just saying trans people should compete with their biological sex – we are saying trans males shouldn't be able to compete in female categories, not that trans males should also be banned from male categories. Jeez.

Yeah I've noticed they often compare trying to keep transwomen from women's bathrooms to racial segregation and homophobia (keeping black women and lesbians from the women's restrooms). Except they are the ones being racist and homophobic by comparing black women and lesbians to males.

Their arguments ALWAYS fall apart because they're illogical and bigoted.

Yeah I've noticed they often compare trying to keep transwomen from women's bathrooms to racial segregation

They do this specifically because racial segregation is such a huge stain on America's history. But they're ignoring that racial segregation included swimming pools, libraries, schools, buses, lunch counters, drinking fountains, AND bathrooms.

And not only were the facilities for black people were far inferior to the white bathrooms, they were also not very many of them. They intentionally had a limited number of bathrooms for black people, to keep them away from town. If you can't pee while you travel, then you pretty much can't travel. Also, black men and black women had to share the same bathroom.

Everything about racial segregation was designed to make black people feel inferior to white people. Not letting TIMS in women's bathrooms is not to "make them feel inferior." There is a bathroom right next door to the women's bathroom that is just as well designed as the women's and is perfectly usable. They're not being asked to hold it in for hours and hours in order to limit their travel and keep them out of public spaces. They're just being asked to use the sex-appropriate bathroom.

To say that it's discrimination would mean that ALL men are being discriminated against - that we are supplying them with inferior bathrooms intentionally, to make sure they know their place.

It's such a dishonest argument to compare it to racial segregation.

Yep, race is also very subjective and not a scientific category. It's a huge generalization of people of common ancestry but what is considered white in America has changed and it Alsop varies around the world. "Mixed race" people also exist and they're just regular people, not a disorder. How do you classify them, in the US the rule was even one black ancestor, and it means you're black but what if that ancestor was 5 generations ago? In South Africa, mixed people are called coloured, and in America, they're black.

Sex, on the other hand, is a scientific term, it applies to all of the human race, actually all mammals, it's easy to define and the few cases where there might be confusion, are medical disorders. Sexes are different in very specific ways and those differences are universal among all cultures.

There's also the reverse uno of "oh, so you WANT trans men like Buck Angel to use the women's restroom! And trans men to compete in women's sports! Aha, gotcha! Stupid terfs!" like fucking - the whole thing about sports regulation and doping is that as long as you took stuff your body wasn't already producing on its own, it isn't fair.

The whole toilet situation is messy and annoying because then it falls on gatekeeping how people "pass" in general, even if common sense tells you if you don't look like the sex you're trying to emulate, don't go in there. Just... we had no issues before any tom dick and harry started calling themselves women and started demanding our spaces. Can we go back ten years

The guy in the orange shirt is Benjamin Butterworth. He self-IDed as black and took a black delegate's place at some LGBT conference and got away with it.

Before anyone comes in here to declare India as one of the "reasonable" ones, let's not forget he was one member of the unfair three versus one attack on Posie Parker here. And despite the numbers, PP kicked their asses.

That interview is the debate equivalent of bringing a stick to a gun fight. And between India and the vapid hosts, I'm not sure they managed a full stick.

Posie is the best! You can see how much she loves this fight.

How does she stay so calm during this bs “debate” that basically boils down to three people constantly misquoting her and going “but why are you so meeeaaaaan to trans people?!” at her. Wow, that makes me mad on her behalf. (I also cannot believe that dude seriously went “As a MAN...” when talking over her at some point.)

[–]RevengeOfTheCis 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don't know how any of the public rad fems keep calm. Meghan Murphy, especially. I've never seen her look even the slightest bit stressed no matter what is said to her. I would love to have her composure!

[–]Comatoast 14 insightful - 2 fun14 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Reasonable or not, the composure kept was fucking impressive. I would have burst a sprocket after being interrupted so many times and then steamrolled by that prissy asshole.

The blonde in the video is actually a male who transitioned, and even they don't accept the views of the 2020 trans movement. Why are these TRA men(orange shirt) trying to speak for and override both women and men? This video is a parallel to a feminist biological woman debating yet another pro trans-right-activist man https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8nViKYmEhU

[–]ekitten 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Lmao I remember that video. IIRC, at one point he admits that the definition "woman=adult human female" isn't offensive but then continues to insist that it is offensive to display the definition, lolol.

[–]Spikygrasspod 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

So he just keeps repeating that you have to be compassionate and let people be themselves. It seems like the only way to be compassionate is to avoid critique of someone's worldview, and people can only be themselves by self-identifying into categories whose core criteria they don't meet.

Also, no one has pointed out that this misuse of the word 'gender' effectively conceals the real gender-gender as class, gender as a system of norms that serves to control out behaviour and justify sex based injustice.

Piers "two-spirit penguin" Morgan. I will never forget that. XD
