For all the noise that being civil to the right will lead to a repeal of abortion rights the biggest threats are coming from the left in the UK. If a mother can be guilty of discrimination against a fetus then that opens the door to it having all the other human rights as well. This is how abortion was outlawed Poland, through the language of rights and equality not bible bashing.

They were talking about this on Women’s Hour this morning. The pro-choice speaker made the very good point that most of these kinds of defects are only picked up at twenty weeks, so the mothers would only have a month to decide. If they don’t have time to do further tests (to determine the severity of the problem), think about how they could accommodate a disabled child, speak to support services, and so on then they’re more likely to panic and abort.

Lynn Murray said:

By stating that disability is grounds for termination, section 1(1)(d) of the Abortion Act, promotes inequality. It would be totally condemned if a country’s abortion laws singled out babies on the ground of gender or skin colour, but because it’s a disability...

And how exactly is gender to be determined in a fetus in this PC society?
