It’s interesting to see the difference between US GC feminists and UK GC feminists, especially as it plays out on Twitter.
As far as I can tell, there are very few vocal American GC feminists, but many of them seem more hardcore than some prominent UK GC feminists, by which I mean a % of US GCers seem to not be bending an inch before gender ideology.
Some American GC feminist refuse to even use the words “transgender,” much less use pronouns.
By contrast, some of the most prominent British GC feminists accept transgender as a concept, use pronouns and refer to TiMs as “trans women,” or otherwise humor them.
I wonder what that difference between US and UK is all about?
Are British women trained to be more polite and accommodating because British people in general are more polite, whereas the US has a pioneer-type, “Don’t Tread On Me” tradition?
Have American women woken up so late to the gender wars - after laws have stealthily been passed on the state and local level and the hideous Equality Act is already halfway through Congress - that push back against gender ideology has to be super-hardcore?
The other difference is the willingness (or rather, necessity) of US GC feminists to work across the political spectrum, which is often decried by some UK GC feminists, even as they themselves work with the Tory minister, Liz Truss.
I LOVE the UK feminists - they are an inspiration and if they hadn’t started the push back and fought so hard (TERF Island!), who knows where women in other countries would be now. But it does slightly irk me that some are so hard on US feminists for finding allies wherever they can, while some UK feminists do the same themselves.
I wonder which is the better approach, burn-it-down or give some concessions to the gender lobby and gender ideology?
I’m a burn-it-down type myself, but that I think, is because I’m older and I remember when American women didn’t have Title IX and other basic rights, and I also remember the fight for the Equal Rights Amendment, which still has not passed.
So it enrages me that while American women couldn’t get something as basic as the Equal Rights Amendment, men who claim to be women are getting the Equality Act, which will destroy the sex-based rights, privacy, dignity, safety and sports of every American woman.
Also, in the US we don’t have universal healthcare, so Big Pharma/ Big Medicine is a hugely powerful lobby, and also has huge amounts of $$$ by which to gaslight the American people.
We also have a really crazy level of political polarization where people march in lockstep with their party’s platform no matter how ridiculous/ dangerous it is. Witness how many Democrats are for TiMs playing in women’s sports - are they even using their brains and /or eyes?!?
Therefore, my advice to American fems is to burn it the F down. Woman the barricades. Not one concession to the Gender Mob. Get out there and get loud. If not, we American women will lose it all even before we had it.
Start with the Equality Act, tell people about it and its ramifications because most women, when it's explained correctly, get how dangerous it is.
And, in my experiences, some men (well, conservative men mostly) seem to get the danger of the Equality Act even faster than women do. Maybe because men aren't trained from birth to "be kind" but also know what monsters men can be.
