The new law, introduced by Democratic lawmakers Low and Cristina Garcia, won’t prohibit stores from having traditional boys’ and girls’ sections, but will require them to have “a reasonable selection” of toys and items in a “gender neutral section … regardless of whether they have been traditionally marketed for either girls or boys.”

How about we stop traditional marketing towards either boys or girls, and instead group toys by category/type (dolls/figures, puzzles, etc) ... that way ALL toys are "gender neutral" as they should be?

But instead, they leave the boy/girl separated sections and make a third section called "gender neutral". That's solving the problem how, exactly?

Exactly this. All that needed to be done was to do away with the boy/girl distinctions for toys. But no, instead lets enshrine gender stereotypes into law but add a third box for kids to be stuffed into. Thanks, "progressives."

But if the toys are gender neutral then how will fucked up parents justify transing their kids?

Someone will come up with spaying and neutering for kids and call it progressive.

Funny, when I go to the toy aisle, I noticed that all the pink frilly toys are on one end and the other end has blue and gray toys. So it must be sexism and all the "girl toys" go here and "boy toys" go there and not simply because of CATEGORISATION, ORDER AND AESTHETICS.

So much for boys can play with dolls without calling them action figures and girls can play with carpentry tools or with a bat and glove for baseball/softball (and for any dad 15 feet away from a kid, a softball is a safety precaution not a sexist choice)

I sort of wonder if this law is strictly constitutional. Of course, businesses are regulated for various purposes for issues of environmental protection and public health, but does the government have the right to compel a business in a positive sense (not simply preventing them from doing something) to market products in a certain way?

They'll slide this in under the public health rationale; claiming that it helps the mental health of the hordes of trans kids out there who just know, at age 5, that they are born in the wrong body. What a crock of garbage.

Put toys together by category not gender at all. And stop the color coding of toys. Not all girls toys have to be in pink/purple and not all boy toys need to be in blue/green, etc.
