I made a thread ranting on why so many of our figures that are a source of pride are from mainland Asia instead of the west.
There are way more of them yes. But I also believe that they are not mentally castrated or broken by a system that prevents them reaching the potential they want to.
Bruce Lee was born in America but pretty much grew up in HK. Even though he was not full Chinese he was able to grow up in a environment with people that looked like him, could make friends with and gave him an identity. If he grew up in America he probably would not have come up with the ideas he had.
Actually he also became big because he came back to HK to make his movies when Hollywood initially rejected him. Don't get fooled by their whitewashing of history by pretending they always accepted him.
When you think about it, the pace of asian acceptance and development in america is slow as hell. In the same period of time, Japan then Korea and now even fucking China (the same country that went though tons of disasters and setbacks) all grew and developed their own modern identities and forms of entertainment/cultural expression. At this rate we are probably gonna see viet-pop, historical viet dramas about their dynasties etc on TV, viet artists before we see any non cuked real asian American stuff.

It's pretty telling no Asian American has ever reached the same level of cultural influence as Bruce since his death. Idk who would even come close.

I look to films, TV series, etc made in Asia for a source of pride. There's nothing here in America for Asians except the dollar.
