I can't drive, and I find clutch control quite difficult when approaching junctions. DAE have any advice on when I should be pressing down the clutch? Missed opportunities boyos...they'll come back to haunt you.

a little before the engine stalls out so the engine can assist the brakes

when downshifting, give enough gas to match transmission gear speeds

Thanks for the reply boyo. I can't even manage basic clutch control, so downshifting is out of the question atm. I just brake and shift to the intended gear when at a low enough speed.

At what speed would you recommend to start pressing the clutch down to go into, say, first gear at a junction?

a little before the engine stalls out so the speed depends on what gear you're in

it's good to let the engine help brake; it's not good to let the engine stall out

watch your tachometer; if you don't have a tachometer then listen to the engine noise

I'd rather not, since where I live it's about 95/5 split between manual and auto. Also with a manual license I could drive both manual and automatic.

it's probably like a videogame where you have to learn the controls or you're trash, but eventually it makes sense

Unfortunately driving is required for wagecucking nowadays, so it's pretty much a must.
