You said it. It's exhausting. I remember being so optimistic that things would improve for LGB lives by the time I'm well into adulthood and now look at how the world is treating lesbians. A lot of us have been effectively forced back in the closet or into underground groups. I hate how fractured and vicious everything feels. I just want to exist unmolested, without fear of being ostracized or targeted or canceled for literally being a lesbian.

When does it end?

I feel you. It's amazing how our sexuality is now a trend nowadays. EVERYONE wants to be a lesbian and, like, whyyyyyy? What is it about being a lesbian that it's sooOOOoooOo cool? And besides, everyone gets to say what a lesbian is, BUT the actual homossexual females. We, the actual lesbians, are hateful, bigoted, "outdated" lmao. I wonder when is this going to come to an end. It's so infuriating to see people using our sexuality as an "cool accessory" when plenty of us had such a hard time coming into terms with our sexuality, accepting both the same sex attraction and lack of opposite sex attraction. Hugs <3

What upsets me is that we are left all alone to deal with this "shit show". Very few women would support lesbians. They would rather support transgender, non-binary, gay males, basically anybody, except lesbians, as if it is the uncoolest thing in the world to be the lesbians' ally.

This. Call out the hypocrisy. It's the only way to show them the acceptance we need.

yes <3 it helps me to keep in mind a lot of the ppl saying dumb stuff are very young & ignorant, of both their own sexuality & the ways of the world. ask yourself whose opinions really matter to you & try not to focus on random bad takes. remove yourself from harmful environments the best you can. i've been addicted to reading hateful stuff in the past and it's just... don't do it! i remade my social media & now i just follow other lesbians & normal ppl and that's been really good for me lol. i'm lucky in that i don't have to deal with any of this especially bizarre homophobia in real life or with people i know tho. i hope you are able to find some amount of peace soon. <3

The why is because women are still deemed totally acceptable to force to be submissive and be treated like garbage by society. Men are the ones in power. The fact that we won't even have sex with the group in power enrages the power group so much that they need to try to erase us from existing.

That's the issue with being a minority. Everyone else will be ''educating'' you on what you ''really'' are, how you should ''really'' live your life (hint - just like them), etc. I don't think there is any real solution for this. Find one woman to have a life with, and ignore all this drama.

I’m beyond sick of these nonbinary/genderfluid warriors dominating every conversation online and in academics. These people need to stop jerking off to Judith Butler and forcing their embarrassing identity crisis on everyone else. Maybe reflect and develop some self awareness instead.

Lesbians, and even a growing number of trans people, are fed up with constantly being the political volleyball in these tiresome gender flame wars. These narcissistic activists need to get a life and stop telling everyone else how to live theirs.

I seriously feel like lesbians are the most hated people out here. Lesbians even hate lesbians. What a shit show.

You must not be black (or not an American) lol

[–][deleted] 17 insightful - 2 fun17 insightful - 1 fun18 insightful - 2 fun -  (13 children)

Can we please not do this?

[–]censorshipment 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (12 children)

As a black lesbian, I can arrogantly claim that being a lesbian is not a struggle compared to being black. I'd say heterosexual black women are the most hated group.

[–][deleted] 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

So then why did you come in and directly draw a comparison between the struggles of black people as a whole and lesbians? Black people are hated worldwide. Lesbians are hated worldwide. It's clear OP was just venting about the hateful rhetoric and actions aimed at lesbians and not making an objective statement about who is or isn't the most oppressed.

And trust me. It's best for you not to assume that whoever disagrees with your approach to this topic isn't also black.

Don't care who disagrees.

That's because you're vested in engaging in the oppression olympics the U.S. loves, especially right now, because you gain from it. Yeah I guess all those white lesbians are sooooo privileged. I'm tired of THIS shit on top of man's shit against lesbians. It's more of the same.

Why are het black women hated? As far as I know black population has big homophobic problem

Sexuality can be hidden (unless you're uncontrollably flamboyant).

Race cannot be hidden (unless you're ethnically ambitious or white-passing).

Sure, living in a homophobic environment can be stressful... but antiblack racism is far worse.

The erosion + erasure of lesbianism (in general) is antifemale sexism + homophobia... but antiblack racism + antifemale sexism is so much worse, even just on Reddit/social media.

Y'all should lurk black women subreddits to read about what straight black women endure.

Wow, that comment is fucked up. Well, of course that's not a normal view though. It's true we can hide, but still hiding is bad and living lying cause people hate you is miserable.

[–]censorshipment 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

It's still not comparable. A white lesbian couple can live relatively peacefully for decades whereas black women (especially black women involved with men) cannot live relatively peacefully. A black woman is more likely to be affected by antiblack racism on a daily basis throughout her entire life... 7-10 decades of it.

[–]florasis 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I can't argue, even though a lifetime of hiding because people hate who you are, isn't very peaceful

[–]censorshipment 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

A very simple example of what I'm talking about is the Williams sisters, Venus & Serena, versus white lesbian tennis players. If you actually think what they endured is relatively comparable... shame on you.

From the comments I've seen that user seems unhinged. Just report and move along, their comments always get removed for bringing nothing of value to the table.

You don't need any. People who want to twist words and play little games with language to pick fights like this have always existed and always will. Best approach in my experience is to not worry much about them, move on, and report if they're breaking rules.
