I'm so fucking pissed about the ending lmao.

=====SPOILERS AHEAD=====

The dumb hets fucked everything up again. Seriously, this guy has billions of women around the world to choose from and he goes for his brother's wife? Then he hides in his office and leaves the lesbian to deal with his fucking mess. He should've died instead of Hannah. I wish he died. And that jackass ghost got THREE women killed. What a piece of shit. Ugh. There was no justice. All the assholes ended up better than they started out and the good people were worse off for it.

I agree the ending was garbage. I think the creators just decided to have a sad ending because people complained the first season's ending was too happy. I can accept a sad ending but it wasn't narratively satisfying to have it end tragically since the show already focused on the toxic couple ending tragically as well as Owen and Hannah and everyone just forgets about Dani...

SPOILERS

I think the tragic ending worked in the context of the theme of the show, which is about love without ownership and by extensions, love that is beautiful in its transience. Jamie loved Dani even though she literally doesn't own her (ghost lady did) and there was an expiration date set for their relationship before it had even properly begun. But Arrghh I hate seeing it as a result of asshole behavior on other people's part. That feels less poetic and more like getting fucked over. Especially when said assholes were all better off for it. Grrrrr.

Damn I fucking agree! That jackass ghost pissed me tf off. I get that she was traumatized but WTF GHOST! And totally agree about Henry. He was a douchebag billionaire and he should've paid his employee HAZARD PAY for absorbing a ghost! "How can I ever repay you?" FFS.

I'm dying at the idea of hazard pay for ghosts hahah

Yeah! Hazard pay for Dani for absorbing the ghost! Fuck. Henry should've given her hazard pay. What a dick. Also Viola was a jackass ghost and should've chillaxed with the strangling people to death thing. Also fuck Flora and Miles for being such creepy brats. Worst kids EVAR who got 2 nannies killed!

LOL, I think we're talking about different ghosts. I meant Peter! He sucks! He was terrible. He got THREE women killed, two by his own "hands", one of which was his own girlfriend! What a piece of shit! The whole mess towards the end went down because Peter wanted to kill Dani and Peter wanted to steal the children's bodies! Peter shouldn't have been stealing in the first place! Peter should've sucked it up when he died instead of dragging everyone down with his bullshit and MURDERING women! Fuck PETER!

LOL agreed, FUCK PETER! I also thought Viola was a jackass ghost, IMO but less so than Peter.

I loved Jamie with her curly hair and overalls! So cute. I also felt the actress was great at creating chemistry and I thought she was originally romantically involved with Hannah because of this haha. Overall I did feel the show was too slow paced and the creator really need to cut down on the ~deep~ monologues but I enjoyed it anyway.

I watched it twice already, it's so good.

I just started it! It's really good so far. I am on Episode 4 and I find Dani's story so relatable in a sad way. In the flashbacks, I noticed she was cringing and not really responding every time her family mentioned husbands, weddings (to men), etc. and that's me right now.

I read this based on this recommendation. So many mixed feelings! You were right on about the representation of a wholesome lesbian couple. For some reason this stuck to me so much - I'm 25, and I've been in several relationships, but I never realised I really needed a portrayal of this kind of selfless, non-toxic, non-warped power dynamics, love in a show. For my own sake. Again, all I can articulate it with is that it truly did stick with me.

But, alas, THAT ENDING!!!! I was a blubbering mess for hours 😂. I feel like we set the bar so low. It would be one thing if we had hundreds of rom coms and romance films, but for the ONE accurate portrayal to be in a horror movie where the wife ends up stuck for eternity in a lake frozen in time as this paranormal being??? DUDE. This kind of reminded me of a lesbian version of The Lakehouse. It's REALLY great we have something like that, but again, it feels like all we have.

Sorry for the late reply. What surprised me mostly that not Dany nor Jamie died just like that in the climax of the story. Usually lesbians die just like that in pointless way. Instead, they lived happily for over a decade.

A low bar indeed! xd

And yeah, I'm 26 and living in a homophobic country so all of Dani stuff was absolutely relatable. I watched it with my half-sister who doesn't know I'm a lesbian, so I had to hide my smirk in certain scenes ;)
