Great film, lots of big names in this one!. Lon Chaney was great as the titular character The Wolfman, and entire cast is outstanding: Claude Rains, Maria Ouspenskaya and Bela Lugosi, and more. A good script, dramatic music (at times huanting, at times suspenseful), atmosphere, foggy forests, Gothic mansions and crypts, and colorful Gypsy encampments make this one of the very best werewolf movie of all time.
Reading through the comments, I discovered this wasn't the first werewolf movie, that distinction seems to belong to The Werewolf (1913), a short film which was lost in the 1924 fire at Univeral Studios. It was based on Henry Beaugrand's short story "The Werewolves" (1898), which you can read here.
