Moving towards China style censorship.

But I think it is distracting from the fake quarantining of /The_Donald. And many other manipulations behind the scene.

Reddit is manipulating elections, directly. Just like Google (ABC). But need to be silent about it, so they hide it behind algorithms and "incidents".
I wonder if Veritas could find some more info..

There is also a lot of fake news around "Russian bots". Most of them turn out to be Democrats- bots or political concerned citizens.

Most manipulation is done by US Organisations (and Israel) that want to push a certain narrative. I did not forget "Correct The Record", or "The Lobby", or "Iraq WMDs".

Pretty much China's social credit system. People who are friends with people with a low social credit will themselves have their social credit score lowered. What Reddit is doing is pretty much uncanny.

Yeh like Chinese censorship.... Except for that whole thing where the Chinese govt actually censors, and platforms like Google and reddit are private and can literally tell what you should think, and you can literally tell them to pound sand.

Whereas in state sanctioned censorship, men with guns show up at your house and enforce the rules, or they take you away for retraining, or they simple eliminate you as an enemy of the state, and your option is to comply, you slit your own throat or the state does it for you.

Of course, it's far easier for ppl to complain about reddit, but in truth they don't care and partially agree, otherwise places like saidit would be much larger.

[–]ctvzbuxr 7 insightful - 3 fun7 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

Of course it's not quite the same as systemic, forced censorship by a totalitarian government. It's an exaggeration to get the point across. Also, just because Reddit is private and doesn't show up at your house doesn't mean everything they do is okay. They claim to be impartial, but they're not. This is false advertising and manipulation of users. Reddit would not be as big if people knew just how one-sided it is, but they still want to use their unjustly maintained reach to influence elections. This is highly immoral behavior. If reddit wants to be partial and censor their content, they should be open and up-front about it, label themselves as a left-wing platform, and nobody in their right mind would complain about it.

[–]jamesK_3rd 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

No that's what censorship is unless you live in a society where the govt openly controls businesses and what content is allowable online, and we're definitely on the road there, but there is still some freedom left here.

highly immoral behaviour? They're made up of people, and people who reflect their values on it.

This is a fact in life that we must all come to terms with. The best example of this is our beloved media companies, who years ago removed adjectives from their names, such as The Xxxx Democrat Times, the Republican Courier, the Progressive Examiner or the Conservative Post. These were removed by individuals some with the best of intentions or perhaps some with nefarious intent, the end result was the same however. Changing the name doesn't in fact change that the entity is still staffed by people, people with agendas, people with ideologies and core belief systems that skew and reflect a viewpoint through a certain prism regardless of how loud claims of "impartiality" are.

I'm sorry, i don't believe companies such as reddit or google should be required (especially by govt) to censor or promote certain content, which is ultimately where your and in particular the OP author's viewpoint will take us. In fact too often this becomes a tool wielded by govt to control free speech. If you don't like it, leave. Nobody forces you to type redditDOTcom in your browser and scroll through content all day.

If you want to make a publisher vs platform argument I'm all in. In fact, i think it's longpast time someone sues outfits like Twitter and forces them to pick a side instead of mulling around somewhere in the grey area where they can get away with acting as if they're both. Unfortunately, the few times I've seen cases come up against big entities, their ideology seems to have a price, and i read how a settlement out of court has been reached.

But I think you misjudge the people using platforms such as reddit. Back in the earliest beginnings of reddit, it was pretty openly hostile to certain religions and though i can say i don't recall ever seeing them remove content the way i hear of mods doing now, voices were certainly made to feel unwelcome. It didn't bother me, but i found it quite ironic that those who professed to have no religion at all had such fervour and zeal when it came to their own religion and it seemed to be just another groupthink for a particular group of people.

I'm all for smacking these companies like Google, reddit and Twitter. But not with govt. But, I totally realize that I'm in a very small minority now and i think it's only a matter of time until the govt begins overtly picking winners on net as well.

I didn't say government. Little trivia about me: I'm actually an anarchist. I believe that anything can be resolved without government interference if enough people put their minds to it. That is why I think it's important to establish better platforms such as Saidit, that are dedicated to free speech and will hopefully replace things like Reddit, given enough time. That being said, it's not that simple. Why do you think companies like Reddit are promoting left-wing politics so hard? Because they hope to acquire preferential legislation from the swamp creatures that keeps competition down and secures their monopoly. We are already competing with the power of the state here.

[–]kokolokoNightcrawler 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

If saidit gets larger it will be exactly , if not more draconian than reddit. The problem is the devils tribe who take over everything popular, it is their business to infiltrate ALL media.

[–]Lunaari[S] 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

When you have an army of fat neckbeard neet leftists, it's easy to ruin a platform. While I'm away at work, they're demolishing the site.

[–][deleted] 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Reddit is manipulating elections, directly.

"During a 2018 interview with Andrew Marantz of the New Yorker, Reddit’s CEO said, “I’m confident that Reddit could sway elections,” followed by “we wouldn’t do it, of course.” Of course, that wasn’t true."

"To recap, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman is set to influence conversation about the 2020 election on Twitter 4.5 times as much as Vladimir Putin influenced the 2016 electoral conversation. This doesn’t account for the much larger effect of the quarantine on Reddit’s own political discussion, which is comparable in scope to Twitter’s. I look forward to the Intelligence Community’s soon-to-be-announced special investigation."

Today on InfoGalactic I started a "part of a series on Shaddowbanned" project after finding someone else had also contributed to the Reddit article. https://infogalactic.com/info/Reddit It's nothing profound, but it's a start. (I also added to the WikiSpooks CoronaVirus article.)

If you see noteworthy content, feel free to ping me about it and where you'd like it posted.

I wonder if the Dems are making themselves so bad, that they will still lose to Trump as the economy crashes due to China locking up under the virus.

[–]magnora7 20 insightful - 3 fun20 insightful - 2 fun21 insightful - 3 fun -  (23 children)

This is the reddit we knew was coming, and it will only get worse. I am glad we have saidit.

I wonder what in particular inspired them to make this change...

[–]magnora7 9 insightful - 3 fun9 insightful - 2 fun10 insightful - 3 fun -  (7 children)

Probably. I wonder if they're doing it to cut down on "misinformation" about the pandemic at Tencent's request, or something like that

[–][deleted] 6 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 3 fun -  (6 children)

One hand has the coronavirus in it, the other the 2020 election.

[–]magnora7 6 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah, true, it could just as easily be ShareBlue influence or something like that, who knows.

[–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (4 children)

If HeyImSancho is correct, and it sounds plausible, the CoronaVirus is the catalyst that is directly tied to the potential collapse of the West.

https://wikispooks.com/wiki/2019%E2%80%9320_Wuhan_coronavirus_outbreak#Skepticism_with_greater_context

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

That would be nice, but it's hard to say. This virus has the potential to cull the urban herd considerably; which could actually postpone the collapse of the west by reshaping politics towards more rural/nationalistic values.

[–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

LOL. Nice - at a dramatic cost.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Right? It's still doomed anyways due to unsound fundamentals, entrenched corruption, and screwed demographics; so I'd rather just get it over with rather instead of plodding along living dead style as it has been for the past 10+ years.

Owned by jews, sold to communism, also, made by jews.

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

The Jew that helped make it was the one that turned it into a free speech platform. I doubt tgat he intended to bait and switch, they pushed him out of the company.

[–]kokolokoNightcrawler 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

A juice made something free...It's like an oxymoron, innit....I myself don't remember Reddit being a free speech zone...ever....But then again I was more frequenting the chans to be able to take real notice.

[–][deleted] 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

Yeah they harped on respecting free speech for a few years there before the decline started.

Aaron Swartz was a cool libertarian dude, maybe check out this doc about him: https://tube.4aem.com/videos/watch/d5a426b8-6081-4dcb-8e31-1810f668161f

He also helped develop RSS and some other stuff. And he stole taxpayer funded research papers to publish for everyone.

[–]kokolokoNightcrawler 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Thanks for the link. Most of the tribe aren't even consciously aware the devil works directly through them...The lust for power and money above all else is not strictly limited to the tribe, but it is in their DNA. The pact was made long ago. Having said that, like my grandad did in WW2, I'd defend life and property of every single jew with my life. Only bigger mistake than having business with the tribe is trying to kill the tribe. Jesus was jewish. He was Gods message to the Lucifer that thousands of years of planning to corrupt all of humanity is not nearly as powerful as a single image of Him walking amongst us, showing us the way of goodness. It may sound like something out of a cheap fantasy novel, but I came to truly believe it as I see that the 1% of the devils own are in 100% of places of power and influence at all times.

Thank you magnora7 for Saidit, really cool site and well thought, I love the pyramid of debate idea

[–]magnora7 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

No problem, glad you enjoy it and find it useful!

[–]AnarchySpeach 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (6 children)

I am glad we have saidit.

What's to stop saidit from going down the same dark road?

[–]magnora7 10 insightful - 4 fun10 insightful - 3 fun11 insightful - 4 fun -  (3 children)

We don't have ads, our costs are low so we don't need any investors, and I and d3rr won't allow it. So we have several layers of protection against this dark road

[–][deleted] 6 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

Lmao, Voat took the complete opposite route of you and d3rr and it ruined their site. They were a duo too; Atko was one of two owners, after he left Voat went to shit, fast. An "Angel Investor" who would not be named came into the picture like a vulture as soon as Atko left.

Their "transparency" policy went out the window when that happened.

[–]magnora7 13 insightful - 3 fun13 insightful - 2 fun14 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

Yup we've tried very hard to learn from voat's mistakes, because they were supposed to be the chosen one that would save us from reddit and instead it got hijacked by extremists. That's why we initially named the site "antiextremes.com", in reference to avoiding the extremes of both reddit (censorship) and voat (letting extremists take over). It's worked out well so far, especially since our finances are balanced. Voat has $6k/mo in Azure licensing fees alone, before any server or domain costs. That programming choice ended up creating financial conditions that eventually cost them control of the site. Our low costs will keep us from needing that "angel investor" which ensures we can keep going in the direction we've been going for a long time to come.

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yet the extremes among us - myself included, are here - and have been here. I think the key good design decision you guys implemented that makes this platform fundamentally superior is the lack of downvotes.

It means if you express an unpopular opinion 2 people agree with, and 100 people disagree with - you're sitting at 3, not -97 (suppressed comment). Karma as used on reddit and voat are censorship mechanics. Here it's "Funny" or "Insightful" - not "I disagree, be buried".

[–][deleted] 7 insightful - 4 fun7 insightful - 3 fun8 insightful - 4 fun -  (1 child)

If we're ever gotten to, take our code and make a new saidit. the code is arguably more important than saidit itself. we have a goal of providing our site data as well.

of course like m7 said we're trying our damndest to prevent being gotten to.

[–]JasonCarswell 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

I don't even know what it was for.

[–]Lunaari[S] 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

That's the crux of the issue. Reddit needs to be transparent on content that's flagged as a violation of policy.

[–]One_Jack_Move 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

I actually just got a 2nd warning and it told me what my wrong-think was:

You recently upvoted a post or comment that was determined to be against our policies (link 1 and link 2). Abusive content is not acceptable on Reddit, nor is engaging with it. Please be thoughtful about the content that you interact with.

Please familiarize yourself with Reddit’s Content Policy to make sure you understand the rules for participating on Reddit.

I spam-liked everything to see what might trigger it; pretty surprised it's completely harmless shit they are drawing a line over... And this is just the beginning. The examples of "abusive content" will only get tamer I'm sure.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

"Abusive content is not acceptable on Reddit, nor is engaging with it. Be thoughtful of the content you interact with"

Are you kidding me? God forbid we touch a post or comment with voting, the system they built to literally allow additional participation. Fuck you Reddit. What's next, don't click on links they've pre-determined to be wrong?

GG Jack, RIP your account. I agree, it will only get worse. They're making "harassing and abusive content" very loose and undefined purposely.

le gay, el fake!

[–][deleted] 14 insightful - 4 fun14 insightful - 3 fun15 insightful - 4 fun -  (0 children)

Reddit is trying to have their cake and eat it too. They won't ban quarantined subs, since they admit no policy is broken by them, but you are banned if you go there and upvote something you like. Fuck this slight of hand sneaky behavior modification.

We're doing this because even though some moderators of these communities are acting in good faith, the community members aren't changing their behavior and therefore jeopardize the community at large.

[–]Lostcarkeys 14 insightful - 3 fun14 insightful - 2 fun15 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

Reddit needs to lose their platform status and be held accountable as a publisher. I wonder what charges can be wrung out of all the porn and drug content they host or from all the calls to violence in the radical left subs.

[–]Gladiator3003 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Problem is, they're either in with the right crowd, and can dodge being stripped of their platform status, or they're opposed by people who can barely work the toaster, let alone stuff like this. Look at all the tech hearings over the last few years with Google, Facebook et al. Nobody who actually understands this stuff can hold their feet to the fire properly, or wants to, and those that can hold their feet to the fire properly understands it.

Lmao, what's the point of the voting system now?

[–]Lunaari[S] 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

To make sure the proletariat stay in line.

[–]Drewski 3 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

It's one thing to control your actions, and another altogether to control your thoughts and behaviors. Kinda how Facebook and Twitter make you self-censor flagged posts instead of just deleting them.

[–]AnarchySpeach 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

So they've outlawed voting? How is this supposed to help anything? You've gotta make a bot now every time you want to vote? wtf?

I usually use Voat.co and Saidit.net, but yesterday I checked in at Reddit, and now I'm banned there for a week.
