Depression is an illness. If she had low grade diabetes would this article say she should be cured by the price of her house? If they are mad that she's rich then just be mad about that. But they are mad that she's not happy. How dare a woman not be happy all the time. How dare a black woman have emotions. How dare a woman have health issues. Silly woman it's clearly all in her head.

The privileged and powerful should not be leaning on the rest of society seeking sympathy for their problems. They could do us all a favor by jumping into woodchippers and the world would be a better place afterwards.

Great point. I don't really care if Big Mike is depressed or not. But, exposing your wimpiness to the public isn't going to help anyone become a VP candidate.

Who said she’s seeking sympathy? You’re making great assumptions here. She expressed on her own personal podcast that she’s depressed due to the state of the world. We’re all going through the same thing. Anyone of any background who cares about what’s going on right now is feeling the same thing. Is she not allowed to publicly say anything personal ever, just because she’s rich and powerful?

Don’t be mad at her for being privileged, powerful, and having showed a glimpse of human quality on her podcast. She’s leveling with people and connecting with her audience. If you listen to the clip of the podcast yourself, it’s clear she’s not asking for sympathy, but describing a difficult reality that everyone can relate to right now.

Instead, be annoyed at the media for wasting the world’s time with yet another junk food story, and painting this in a way that made you react in such a heartless manner. Please take pause. React less, research more.

[–]Chipit[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

Don’t be mad at her for being privileged, powerful,

Why not? The 1% are the problem. If they all killed themselves tomorrow, most of our problems would stop. The world's constant wars would stop. We could make real change.

that made you react in such a heartless manner.

You're defending the powerful and attacking me, a nobody. Do you not realize you're doing this? You don't speak truth to the powerless.

[–]foreskin_burglar 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

If the current 1% all dropped dead, a new 1% would form in its place. The problem as I see it is not that there are powerful people, but that regular people don’t have enough of a voice. It’s a complex problem that requires more of a complex solution that ‘kill the rich and powerful’. One of many improvements could be having stronger local government and more community involvement there. Think of the last time you felt, if ever, involved in the politics of your town. It’s important, and nonexistent in most people’s lives.

I don’t think that pointing out that you’ve said very mean things is particularly an attack on you. Nevertheless, I apologize. I’m also not particularly ‘defending the powerful’. I’m simply defending the idea that we shouldn’t hate someone just because they’re powerful. I choose to dislike people based on their actions (or inactions).

[–]Chipit[S] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Nah, the 1% are disproportionately sociopaths. Remove them, and the world is a better place. "Eat the rich", remember?

All of my arguments are sound ones, and used on any other member of the 1% you'd be applauding. It's just because this lady is one of your tribe, so you're not treating her like the enemy. Spoiler alert: she's not in your tribe. She would never have anything to do with a disgusting commoner like yourself. Like George Carlin said, "It's a club, and you ain't in it."

[–]foreskin_burglar 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Lol, she’s not in my ‘tribe’. I’m not a fan of hers, I don’t follow her at all, but I also don’t hate her.

Generally speaking, I don’t need to be passionate about someone or something to stand up against words or actions I feel are disrespectful or unlawful.

All of my arguments are sound ones, and used on any other member of the 1% you'd be applauding.

Again, you make great assumptions. My view of the world, regardless of the group, is much more nuanced than that. I think you’re projecting, given your tendencies to generalize and jump to conclusions.

[–]Chipit[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I think she is. These "leave her alone!" reactions happen when people we care about are attacked. Tribal membership is the most likely explanation. Despite Michelle not reciprocating, but ruling class are like that.

The world would be a better place without every single one of these predominantly sociopaths.

[–]foreskin_burglar 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Your view of human nature is overly simplistic. Sure, you could say that a significant portion of people base their opinions purely on emotion, but not everyone. I certainly don’t belong in that bucket of emotional/tribalist thinkers. But it appears that you do, because you’ve demonstrated that you are passionately in the ‘commoner’ tribe and vehemently against the ‘rich’ tribe.

We’re talking past each other. You’re so keen on asserting that the way you view the world, and view a complete stranger like myself, is fact, rather than engaging in a discussion.

[–]Chipit[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

you are passionately in the ‘commoner’ tribe and vehemently against the ‘rich’ tribe.

You are, too. What you have is called "false consciousness". If you are not woke to the reality of systemic oppression of the 99% by the 1%. See: https://newdiscourses.com/tftw-false-consciousness/

It has nothing to do with her being black or a woman, You're making shit up and projecting.
People are unsympathetic towards her because she's worth $75,000,000 alone, not counting what she shares with Obama, and therefore far more privileged than more than 99.9% of all Americans, and she's taking issues that poor people face and claiming it's making it hard for her to sleep in her $12,000,000 bedroom or exercise in her in-home gym because she has low-grade sads. The reason she's depressed isn't because she has an "illness," like diabetes or the economy virus. She's depressed because she's processing guilt because she knows if she were poor she'd be facing the same issues.

Depression is technically an illness. And pop-tarts are technically a building material, since I could technically stack enough of them on top of each other to build a house. But you don't see me online claiming "People are just mad at her because she didn't build her $12,000,000 home out of pop-tarts." Quit making stupid untrue claims.

Common theme with the transgender people it seems.

You clowns will believe anything. Plenty of childhood photos of her as a girl exist.

[–]kokolokoNightcrawler 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (6 children)

Whose the clown really. The one posting a meme or the negative IQ doing a fact check on it?

Btw you're coming right hot from the base of the pyramid you Reddit NPC without the mod or admin backup to come and rescue you...

[–]FediNetizen 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (5 children)

First off, it's "Who's". When it's possessive you use "whose", when it's a concatenation (edit: contraction) of "who is", you use "who's".

With regards to the overall comment, this isn't quite Motte & Bailey but it's pretty close. You confirmed you were being serious with this line:

Btw...All other bulge photos scrubbed from Duck Duck Goy as well. Time to look for a different Engine me thinks.

Then when challenged you say "it's just a meme" and pretend like you weren't being serious.

It seems like you got bored before you finished reading the pyramid, otherwise you'd know what the top portion was: refutation of the central point. Michelle Obama isn't trans. Furthermore, people that think she is are just right-wing clowns. Sorry if you felt like you were entitled to a polite refutation, but the position that she is trans isn't defensible. It's up there with a retarded lazy leftist says "penises can be female" or "Trump is a fascist" or some shit like that.

[–]kokolokoNightcrawler 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Clearly again it's all about the censorship and hiding of satire, escaping from satire, critiquing satire...That won't work, it never did. Even the Chinese Commies are having hard time with that one.

refutation of the central point. Michelle Obama isn't trans. Furthermore, people that think she is are just right-wing clowns.

Jumping right off the capstone to an ad-hominem...Ok, lady, what ever you say....

Fedi is an example of the cognitive dissonance that affects low IQ people. It's astounding how they will desperately concoct crazy coincidence theories to protect their precious mal-adjusted view of the world so they don't have to come to terms with the world's harsh realities.

What did Joan Rivers mean by this?

Rivers said "You know Michelle is a tranny." When asked to confirm her eyebrow-raising statement, she said, "A transgender. We all know. It's okay."

Then her quickly ensuing suspicious death?

[–]FediNetizen 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Yes, very suspicious when women in their 80s die. Rivers was an old lady that did a lot of drugs. I've heard people say "Michelle is a tranny" for years now and it's always the same dumb arguments:

1) She looks manly! 2) Look at this photo that looks like it could be a bulge.

Except plenty of women have features like that and none of the photos are convincing. Plus we have childhood photos and people that knew Michelle growing up. For fucks sake dude, learn what cognitive dissonance is.

[–]Zahn 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

2 months after her statement about "Michelle" being a trans and Barry being gay, Joan had a routine surgery that ended in her death. It was ruled malpractice with the doctors and medical staff throwing a selfie party as she slowly gasped her last dying breath. The case was settled for millions and not to be talked about ever again. This was an expensive clinic for rich clients that she had gone to for years for this routine procedure, not some community health clinic.

Also, those pictures of "Michelle" as a kid are just images of a black female child. They do not provide definitive proof they are actually images of her.

Cognitive dissonance Fedi. Coincidence Theorist.

[–]Chipit[S] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

What's wrong with being trans? You're acting like it's some kind of problematic behavior?

Why should we not mock and ridicule the powerful? The saying isn't afflict the afflicted, comfort the comfortable. In fact, you're punching down right now. You go! Defend the wealthy. Speak truth to the powerless!

-$750k is the lifetime budget impact of an average black in US. Multiply it by 42 million and you get 31 trillion dollars. That is 31000 Space Shuttle or 500000 new Falcon 9 launches.

      Assuming that

The cost of the International Space Station (ISS) is approximately 150 billion USD (15000 crores USD).1

With that much money you could literally give EVERY SINGLE COUNTRY IN THE WORLD their own ISS program from start to finish and you'd still have leftovers.

If you take the largest 20 kg/kw numbers here, you could build almost 200 4GW space power plants in LEO, which is the equivalent output of 35 Three Gorges Dams IN SPACE.

I'm not even factoring foreign aid, gay useless wars, other migrants, bank bailouts in the equation. Your money is spent frivolously.

How's it deflecting? Since when do we offer any sympathy for the privileged and powerful? Public discourse as an arena of power. You think if I called up the BBC and informed them of my current mental state they'd publish it? Michelle is able to speak and be heard while the rest of us are deliberately silenced. I assert that the world would be a better place if all the powerful people put themselves into woodchippers and left the rest of us alone. Agree or disagree?

Point to where I said that. I'll wait.

I said we shouldn't have any sympathy with the wealthy and powerful. That we'd all be better off if they all jumped in woodchippers feet-first. That it's blatantly unfair that media like the BBC would publish her feelings, while the rest of us can't get a foot in the door. Journalists forgot they're supposed to speak truth to power, not coddle power and ask it if it feels a bit down.

Oh, sure. It's just really rich for a powerful, privileged person to be granted a platform by BBC - The BBC! - so we can find out her feelings. What would happen if I called in to the BBC and wanted them to publish my feelings? Exactly. Powerful, privileged people can go die in a fire.

Although I do appreciate you punching down and attacking someone because you think he's poor. Speak truth to the powerless!
