This could have been a short interaction had both sides been polite, but that man had the right to be a jerk. Those police officers used their power of authority to violate his civil rights because they got their feelings hurt.

I don't think he was being a jerk, but even if he was that isn't a crime. Someone has to push back against these 'civil servants' or they think they can get away with whatever they want. I've had plenty of people be rude to me, but if I did what these cops did I'd be in prison.

He was not in the wrong and she was, but he could have de-escalated and said, "oh, this? It's just my cane. When I was walking to jury duty, it was dark and I needed it, as I am legally blind. I have an easier time seeing when the Sun's out, so I don't need it now. Here, take a look."
You can be correct but not right. A little effort from him and he would have been on his way in less than a minute. Usually, the police are trying to be helpful and when you put them in that "helping" mode, it makes it easier on yourself.

I got a ticket driving to criminal court jury duty. I was unfamiliar with the roads and it bit me. No one was found guilty that day. Payback is a mother fucker.
