Server is back up

Hey guys, I'm back. Took a little vacation, also helped a family member recover after surgery. Everything is fine. Noticed the server was down yesterday, brought it back up today. Sorry for the downtime. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming :P

Sorry for the worry. My mom had surgery and I went to support her and I took a break from saidit for a bit, that's all.

Unfortunately I can't exactly announce that I'm going to take a break from saidit either, or else the trolls go nuts with their attacks and create a lot of extra difficulties for the content admins taking care of the site, so that's why I didn't say anything. I was trying to make life easy for the curators of the site in my absence, and keep the site stable while I was gone for a couple weeks.

I just found out it was a billing error. Apparently our server company suddenly decided to stop accepting the credit card that was being used to pay for it, without telling us, for basically no reason. It's all been resolved now though. cc /u/d3rr

Oh, okay. That's kind of suspicious, since Torba had all his credit cards revoked when he made Gab... but it was probably just a bug on the host's end.

On reddit users that should have been banned long ago were crowing about finally getting the site taken offline.. It was pretty ugly.

Yeah and what's sad is reddit supports these people because they're doing reddit's dirty work by shutting down competition. All reddit has to do is turn a blind eye, which they are. But they know what's going on.

I am probably in the minority here, but I don't have an account at reddit, or just about anywhere else, so I was shocked when it I got a 304 to reddit.

The other thing is, I don't think Saidit is syncing with notabug.io any longer. I attempted to look at the synced version and it was like 3 month old.

So why did amelia say it was some death thread that they finally were able to remove and convince the host to let us back but it was a delicate situation?

    I'm not even sure this is possible but have you considered transitioning saidit into some type of fully decentralized project? Maybe with an integrated crypto system so admin, mods and quality comments can get some coin? The crypto could also double as a voting system for electing admin/board positions. I think the day is coming soon that there will be no server/webhost that isn't fully controlled by the banking cabal and their Bolshevik/authoritarian minions. Every site with any type of free speech is going to be fully controlled or 'controlled opposition' in the near future.

    I was able to remove the death threat SaidIt was allegedly taken down for. I banned the user (one of Loki's iron right alts), but it's only a matter of time until he makes another account
