I don't know why you are announcing this. We know the shit is on auto pay and that it could keep running for months or even years. This feels like a double whammy, between the Jason ban and now this. If you are done being admin, feel free to step down and I will take over. I told m7 that I will keep this pile of chaos running. edit: yes I did use these very words myself, but not as an admin announcement to God and the world.

Thank you for your impressive support and commitment to the website. Please do not blame yourself for anything. A small number of users will disagree with the administrators, with no real concept of how much you sacrifice in order to manage the most basic aspects of the site. Developments at a free speech website naturally require some administrative intervention, without which the website would have converted to 4chan 2.0 long ago. It's thanks to you and administrators that this hasn't happened. There are a few influential people who have felt, and will continue to feel, justified in their attempts to gaslight and personally harm you. I am very impressed that you've continued to support Saidit despite these serious attacks. Thanks to you and others, Saidit won't sink. It's a valuable site for information and debate. Your work is certainly appreciated, even if there are those who do not understand or appreciate what you do for the site.

Voat is dead, i guess there's ruqqus, Bitchute, Gab and what else? Perhaps Minds and Rumble and bitwave.tv seems to be a thing, I guess there are the old blogs, bulletin boards, f bbs diaspora websites that still might exist after the dot com crashes...you still get the weird conspiracy Qanon pizzagate shit at the chans like 4chan....poal, seems ok

    m7 never pushed me out, he was never rude or anything like that. I stepped down from my admin duties because I was tired of spending effort and stress on site policy and admin stuff when I don't understand the site rules and where the lines are. I stepped down to being the tech guy only and keeping the lights on.

    Man sad to see this fake drama fake ruin something good. It really is disgusting what has gone on with this site and the people who now seem to influence it the most. Seems like the people who are "saving it" and destroying it are one in the same. It's also really sad how all these people only have been here the last year or so. Such a quick downturn, man....anyway I wish everyone the best of luck if you've been on saidit for more than a year or two, if not fuck off you're probably part of the problem. This site used to be something special and I can still remember magnora's podcast interview on THC and what he said. It's too bad he let it go in dumps but this pity party of woe is me I have to run a website is garbage. Everyone wants to be a victim these days I suppose. Man, but have you guys ever really experienced real hardship? Doesn't seem like it. Seems like a bunch of complaining to me. Eh, not my place to judge I suppose.       Thanks for the update. So you've reposted the rules (with some updates) but you have no idea if the sub will go down? If magnora has the keys but is not responding then he's also probably not paying the bills and this site is going down very soon.

      I'm curious why you're doing all this work and trying to keep things 'clean' when we are essentially on borrowed time. Why invest all your time on essentially being a janitor on a site that's inevitably going to shut down very soon?

      Can you or someone else get the keys and pay the bills? If not you will Magnora7 give the keys to someone else so they can pay the bills and keep the site running?

      Imo, Jason carswell was NEVER offensive to me in any way and he was ALWAYS pleasant and friendly. It was a major mistake to ban him.

      He's been a dick to me. He sometimes lashes out when he disagrees in a way that's not an appropriately measured response. That's just Jason though, he can't help it. He's written about why he's like that.

      A ban though, for one of the top site contributors over a fight... I agree that's a huge mistake.

      one of the problems with this site is that I dont really know who or what you really are. I have no idea who or what i am chatting with when i use a website like this. The reality is that mr jason carswell is most likely present in this forum using another registered userid, so banning him really accomplished nothing.

      this website is simply an old and outdated version of reddit.

      when i suggest that the core functions of this site are not designed properly, others only suggest making modifications to the current site, when it really needs to be redesigned and rebuilt from the ground up.

      before you ask, the answer is no, i am not going to tell you how to redesign this site.

      You're new here but this is a small site, a lot of us do know each other more than you would at a larger place. I'm chatting with Jason and another guy on here, LarrySwinger2 rn. Last time Jason was banned he did respect it. I'm the one who didn't, everyone kinda knows who I am except maybe the admins lol. Not sure it matters now, I think we've come to a critical place.

      The owner of the site has been missing for over a month, we're not sure the lights are going to be on much longer. autopay apparently is going

      We're not here for the UI, although we have inline links, which is awesome. Clicking on the "jpg" button lets you see the image inside the message. And the irc chat is nice if anyone ever used it.

      What's wrong with the core site? It is optimized to all hell. We had 20k registered users on a single 4 core server.

      It is a python 2 app that will "poof" stop working someday, that is bad for sure.

      scaleability has absolutely nothing to do with your current management problems of users being banned and users arguing and fighting and it has nothing to do with sql or any thing like that.

      with a website like yours, you must first identify the problems that you are having.

      1) arguing and fighting amongst users.

      you must design a website that does not allow this problem to ever become a problem.

      of course you will only want to argue with me endlessly, which is what you are already doing.

      saidit is terminally sick and will die and if you dont believe me just look at the title of this thread that was posted by one of your senior moderators.

      How would someone prevent people from arguing or fighting? You could create a website that's a giant echochamber so everyone agrees and never debates, but if you have debate you will inevitably have arguments. That's pretty obvious and to think that you can eliminate that is retarded. Why is people arguing even a bad thing? People can have arguments and still be civil. The core site on here is fine, the people are fine, it's the idiots who like you have only been on saitit for one day or one year and think they know anything about it.

      When voat when down I suspected some reddit followers had something to do with it, reading this I suspect some reddit followers again. When I saw "Mods CAN remove opposing opinions that are high on the pyramid of debate," my first thought was saidit has become reddit. So we can't have an opposing opinion. I don't think I've personally attack anyone for stating there opinion however if someone attacks me for my opinion I will comment in kind, anyway if saidit does die then RIP . Free speech is dead

      The writing has been on the wall for a while, sites been bleeding users.

      Looks like there's about 30 people left. You sure that has nothing to do with bans, because -- wild idea -- large sites with millions of members can absorb quite a few bans but we were rocking maybe a hundro contributing users a month ago.

      Everyone was already browsing by s/all because we have more subs than users, but then some subs weren't allowed on all so basically nobody sees those.

      Then it got to a point, speaking from personal experience, I can catch up logging in every few days. Then sometimes there wasn't anything in those periods. Less to read, less to write, even less to read, even less to write.

      It wasn't shills, it wasn't the iron left, Saidit was moderated to death. Unintentionally of course.

      I mostly agree with you Dino, but I do not think it was unintentional. TAM and Magnora7 act like Reddit admins, unfortunately, and calm discussion gets nowhere with those types of people. Loud drama kind of does, but not really.

      TAM currently thinks everyone who criticizes TAM are actually Loki88, and bans people who do not deserve to be banned. I can't see how that is unintentional.

      The iron left, annoying assholes they were, were surprisingly good for numbers, even their vote manipulation benefitted the site, making it appear more populated. Lots of user engagement. I'm not a wrestling fan but I believe that's known as a "heel."

      I'd agree spam is a problem. I think that's related to all the empty subs, nobody is there to moderate most of them so admins are the only ones who can remove spam.

      I hadn't been on in a couple weeks, stuff came up. Looks like I picked a good day though, this is kinda interesting.

      I didn't catch the fight but I don't know why you and Jason don't just block each other. There's no reason to lose more people even as the site's future is questionable. Nobody has still heard from M7, next server bill is probably coming up soon. Not sure the lights are going to be on.

      I think we should all be focused on a contingency at this point. You edited it but you said Saidit isn't the only option. Or maybe I misread. The alternatives aren't great, alt right sites basically. A number of Saiditors are centrists, we don't really fit in there.

        Blocking doesn't work for those of us who want to read all of the posts, even from people we disagree with, and especially if from peopel we disagree with. For me, that's the reason to visit Saidit, so read alternative points of view.

        I think Saidit will develop, as it has done, when the posts and discussions are more interesting. Some of the users here have short memories, and may think that Amelia's work is somehow different from M7's.

        M7 banned a lot of people too (cough, cough, cough, cough). That's why people are complaining they're like Reddit mods. People came here to get away from that.
