Mermaids, the charity for transgender youth, continues to unravel before our eyes. Last night, one of its trustees resigned.

A Times investigation found that he had given a presentation at an event hosted by B4U-ACT, a US organisation that advocates on behalf of ‘minor-attracted persons’. The Times describes B4U-ACT as a ‘paedophile-aid group’.

Dr Jacob Breslow, assistant professor of gender and sexuality at the London School of Economics (LSE), had been a trustee of Mermaids since July 2022. In 2011, Breslow gave a presentation at a conference in Baltimore, Maryland organised by B4U-ACT.

B4U-ACT was founded in 2003 by Russell Dick, a social worker, and Michael Melsheimer, a convicted paedophile. One of its aims is to break down the ‘stigma’ surrounding paedophilia. It stresses on its website that paedophiles ‘often show a desire to protect children and make them happy’. B4U-ACT consistently refers to attraction to minors as a ‘sexuality’. And Breslow’s talk – titled ‘Sexual Alignment: Critiquing sexual orientation, the paedophile, and the DSM V’ – took up precisely this theme.

Damn, it’s so clear and many people still deny the pedo connection of queer (and trans among it) community?

[–]cant_even 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Prediction: The pedos will flip that connection in their twisted 'minds' and use it to bulldoze "acceptance/tolerance". The clue is in the mention of "DSM V" in his speech.

APA's voting (under activist pressure: Some real science!) homosex and troons as "not mental illnesses" in 'DSM V' was the catalyst for their 'acceptability'. Some think pedophilia and bestiality are next up on the list.

[–]FlyingKangaroo 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I think that might unfortunately start to happen. That they will try to be “accepted” by society. Some marginal groups already tried it but with the queer community becoming more crazy and complex, it will become stronger.

I also agree with the second part.

Makes me also wonder how about other things that might get disfigures by the wokies. A different stuff, but I was reminded of whether DID will become wokenized, due to the crowds of people claiming they’re “systems”, traumagenic or endogenic (endo means multiple personalities but with no trauma). There might come a time that they will also protest some rules as these are “ableist”; people with real DID will get even less help and the dangerhair teens will again proudly showcase their waifus/husbando/OC collection disguised as “system”.

No it's definitely going to happen. It's happened before I've seen it. NAMBLA.

Exactly.

Here's hoping they drag Pink News down with them

Maybe tweet someone else

Well sure, but how many other people employed a paedophile apologist (and that's at best, advocate or active participant at worst)

Some of the people running to Ben Cohen’s defence might be outing themselves

Edit: Actually the number of TRAs trying to downplay/excuse Mermaids in JKRowling’s replies is ridiculous. Lots of people willing to jump on a grenade for Mermaids, but are just getting the stink of pederasty on themselves.

[–]Wanderingthehalls 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

I'm seeing lots of tweets about abuse in the RC church. Which yes, I'm a gen X Irish person. I was a child in a country that was close to a theocracy and a teenager when we started to learn about the abuse committed by individuals in the church and the institutional protection they enjoyed. I hate the institution of the church.

How the fuck, "yeah but the church" is anyone's response to finding out that organisations they'd admired also contained pedophiles is fucking mind-boggling. Are they really too fucking stupid to know that more than one thing can be bad? Do they really not understand that predators will always, ALWAYS, seek out institutions that are above questioning and use them to find victims. Isn't that what we learned in the 90s? It's not religion that's bad but the creation of sacred cows.

It's what made me hold back when trans ideology took over. So many people I knew, people I'd worked with to help break the hold the church had on this country and highlight their crimes, were rushing headlong into twaw. And it was insane to me that they never, ever considered that they were creating the exact conditions that would allow predators access to victims. Because that was so obviously what was going to happen.

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Well yes because they were retarded. Lots of people hate the church not because of its institutional authority and control or it's corruption, but because they just have mommy and daddy and general authority issues and don't like it when an institution tells them something they do is wrong rather than just having the adult response of , meh whatever. You'll see this IRL with the types of people who get incredibly angry and emotional at street preachers, proselytizers and the like. It's actually the same thing you see from the right when you get the very strong emotional responses towards things they really don't like, homosexuals, communists, Hollywood bullshit, plenty of issues with all these groups and legitimate complaints to go around, but a lot of people are just driven by pure emotion and that same religious desire to virtue signal and go on some damn fool idealistic crusade to make themselves feel better rather than actually doing anything to fix issues. When they align with your side you'll either be blind to or choose to overlook a lot of this because they are essentially fighting on the right side, but you'll be blindsided later when they join some other stupid damn fool idealistic crusade you don't agree with. The issue is they never were really fighting for the same things you were fighting for, their intentions were different. It's also why you should always at the very least make an attempt to listen to and understand your opponents positions as well so long as they are acting in good faith, you should even go so far as assume good faith in most situations simply because many aren't knowingly arguing in bad faith knowingly, but are simply caught up in an ideology.

None of this is the exclusive purview of the right or the left. In fact people tend to move back and forth along the political spectrum depending on what they feel is the most important. I also think that despite the whole anti-religious sentiments, a lot of these people are at their core deeply "religious" in habit. They want to go to the meetings, they want to go do the evangelizing, they want to do the self flaggerization, they revel in the negative attention that others lump on them and the names they are called as a validation of their holy status in the eyes of the unwashed masses. Is there really that much difference between the people standing outside of the abortion clinics screaming murder and the people standing outside of the college lecture halls screaming fascism? Their ideologies are opposed, but their core personalities and social needs are more or less identical.

One of the reasons I think caution is in order when breaking any social institutions grasp on a society. The church is clearly corrupt and should be viewed with a critical eye and be held accountable for issues it causes, but the whole institution itself isn't by all end all evil, it serves a very important social purpose of giving otherwise disparate people a common pillar, or shall we say experience to rally around. Be that totem polls in the forest animal sacrifices in the temple, every society throughout history has had something like this. We can remove it from ours but human nature remains. We will rally around something. Opportunists grifters false prophets pedophiles all the evils of the world will notice this and try to control it. What is it now but simply the new serial religion of Facebook and Twitter. The creed changes with the 24 hour news cycle, but the basic psychological needs remain the same.

The question we should ask is, how can we profit from this? What is the next step in the great social religion of histeronic neuroticism?

I think we have correctly identified pedophiles as the next group to try to gain acceptance, I don't think they will and the culture will shift at that point as it has before with NAMBLA and the gay rights movements. But after that what? I believe we are ripe for another large religious revival, much like the rise of Pentacostslist movement. I suspect it will be some weird mix of pseudo-christian heresies and Elon Musk style Techno-futurism coupled with druid shit.

I think a move to trad families more likely.

There is already such a movement among teen girls.

Eventually a generation will come along who realise it's their broken families and naive under-strict parents who have fucked them up, not society. They will then rebel against the individualist values of our age.

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Seems very likely.

[–]Wanderingthehalls 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I get that people have a need for some sort of religion. I've read before that religious zeal, this kind of activism, sports and music fandom can all have very similar affects on our brains, which makes sense. I think the sensation of connection you might feel in the crowd of a concert of a musician you adore or being in a stadium when the team you are crazy about score a vital goal in an important match would be very similar to religious zeal or getting worked up at a big protest. Being part of a big emotional moment in a crowd can be very powerful sensation.

One of its aims is to break down the ‘stigma’ surrounding paedophilia. It stresses on its website that paedophiles ‘often show a desire to protect children and make them happy’.

UH ACTUALLY PEDOPHILES LOVE CHILDREN! LOVE IS LOVE YOU PEDOPHOBE! GET YOUR SICKENING ADULTOPHILIA OUT OF OUR SAFE SPACE! ITS IN THE BIBLE! "THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY!" "SUFFER THE LITTLE CHILDREN TO COME UNTO ME!" In fact the Catholic church has a long and beautiful history of Map acceptance.

[–]FlyingKangaroo 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

paedophiles ‘often show a desire to protect children and make them happy’.

Ironically that’s just what the predators say. I hope more people will see it, when they’ll read this description.

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

I mean no shit. Spot the pedophile is a really fucking easy game. Here's the secret, the person defending the pedophiles is usually a pedophile. Paedophiles go to great lengths to have trusted positions with access to children. Doesn't mean you are like "well he's not molested any children yet so it's fine to have him be an elementary school teacher" it's like saying "well Harambe hasn't eaten any toddlers that have fallen into his enclosure yet so let's throw some more in!".

[–]FlyingKangaroo 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Fully agree. This is hella creepy. They deserve to be in prison only.

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I'm fine with not tossing as of yet unoffending pedophiles in prison simply because we don't want to create an environment of witch hunts for thought crimes.

But we do need to take very hard stances on anyone trying to promote acceptance. Like compare it to anything else, "I'm a murder sexual and that's ok! I get off on the thoughts of killing my enemies and bathing in their blood? I'm valid! "

No you're not. Your fetish is evil. And you should be stigmatized because no shit, you are praising your desire to kill people. Pedophiles are no different.

It's why it's completely different to just letting gay people be. Gay people don't have to commit crimes and create victims to get their rocks off.

[–]jet199 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Searching for child porn counts as offending so I'm also good with punishing only those offending.

[–]IMissPorn 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Personally I consider B4U-ACT a much more respectable organization than Mermaids. It seems mainly concerned with helping pedophiles get therapy. Mermaids on the other hand is mainly concerned with mutilating children. So yeah.

The problem for Mermaids now is either they knew or they didn't.

Doesn't matter, they'll swear up and down either way that they didn't, and it's such a regrettable blah, blah, blah [insert more ass-covering press copy here].

[–]Datachost 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (10 children)

Which is the problem. This guy made very little attempt to hide this shit. So either they have to admit they hired him, knowing full well what his views were. Or that they didn't do the slightest bit of research before making him a trustee

This is going to have far reaching consequences beyond Mermaids. He's written for Pink News, he's employed at LSE, Sally Hines of refusing to even be on the same panel as Kathleen Stock fame has chaired panels where he's spoken.

[–]ClassroomPast6178[S] 7 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 2 fun -  (9 children)

Imagine if it was Pink News and Mermaids that set back gay rights by giving actual ammo to the “gays are all predatory paedos” crowd. The libel that was just starting to die off, gets reinvigorated by these guys, crazy.

If PN were self-aware they would be putting out lots of content throwing both this paedo-apologist and Mermaids under the bus. Wonder if OJ will say anything.

[–]OuroborosTheory 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

it's the same with Chris-Chan--they really don't understand the effects of spamming every CWC thread to remind all comers-by that the mother-rapist is not just a woman, but always has been; the next stage is going door-to-door and making sure to confirm to all the residents that the creature who bought a book on elderfucking, withheld Barb's medication to increase her confusion, stuck a penis into her every three days, and even asked her to compare it to her previous husbands is a trans woman, and you absolutely must think "trans woman" whenever you think about this case

ditto the coverage of Oli London or Ezra Miller--it's sorta glaring how they have to square the circle of "never ever refer to the non-dysphoric, non-transitioning men as him/her" and "scoff at their claims of being Korean/the pasty-white messianic leader of a worldwide Native revolt"

and it's also gonna happen with Lena Dunham once Her Lopsidedness identifies as "I kissed a girl once and I liked it" and therefore a realio trulio LGBT+ figure, so her their nonsense about being coffin-handled at a Pride Parade flips overnight out of the "whitecishets trying to barge into someone else's lane" to "stunning and brave"

honestly it's like writing a pinpad combination on the pinpad and wondering why people keep mysteriously managing to trespass

There's been a spectacular U-turn from Ben Cohen. He's now claiming whilst he might disagree with LGB Alliance's views, he's never called for them to be shut down. A year ago he announced he was donating to Mermaids' case against them and encouraging others to do the same. By the end of next year he'll probably be claiming to be a founding member

[–]jet199 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I wonder if they are self-aware but so infested with pedos at this point that they have no choice but to circle the wagons.

[–]jet199 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think a lot of trans are so emotionally desperate they would happily trade kids getting raped to get what they want.

And a lot of them were abused as kids themselves. I think that is a thing, traumatised people trying to make out what happened to them was actually no big deal or even a good thing so they don't have to accept they were a weak, helpless victim at one point.

[–]jet199 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Squealler is long past another u-turn.

I think the Pink News crowd are so removed from normal people they really believe that if the "all gays are paedos" thing appeared again they would just be have to scream "homophobia" at everyone to shut it down.

[–]ClassroomPast6178[S] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Background checking your trustees is fairly important, even more so for a charity involved with children. So either they did absolutely no due diligence before appointing him, or even worse they did.

There isn’t enough ass covering material in the Western Hemisphere to cover their arses if they knowingly let a paedo-apologist into their board.

[–]LordoftheFliesAmeri-kin 2.0. Pronouns: MegaWhite/SuperStraight/UltraPatriarchy 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Reminds me of Reddit and hiring that Challenor troon as an admin, lol. The mad scramble by the rest of them to protect him and blackhole all criticism (and all accurate background information as well) was utterly hilarious.

The problem for Mermaids now is either they knew or they didn't.

They knew. They just thought no one would ever make the connection.

[–]handbananasrevenge 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

It’s simple.

They want to fuck kids. Some of them already are, but more of them want to do it without getting in trouble. They would very much like to fuck YOUR kids, and the kids of anyone else who expresses disapproval towards the trans movement. And they will petition the government to let them do it under the guise of re-education. You can call me crazy but that’s where this shit is going. State endorsed kiddie fucking is the endgame.

Ask yourself this: as recently as a few months ago, monkeypox was everywhere in the news and they were hyping it up as the next big pandemic, even though it was obvious to anybody who isn’t brainwashed by mass media that promiscuous gay men were spreading the disease.

Remember, they closed schools and churches during covid but the bathhouses stayed open. You were a selfish grandma killer if you wanted to take your kids to the park in 2020, but in 2022, asking gay men to not have sex with other random gay men for a bit to slow the spread of monkeypox was considered an unfair ask.

Anyhoo, then stories about kids and animals contracting monkeypox started working their way into the news cycle. And then people started asking uncomfortable questions. And then boom. No more stories about monkeypox. Just like that.

[–]jet199 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

And for every paedo there are hundreds of people using them as their shock troops to bring down society so they can remake it.

"Do not forget that these people want you broke, dead, your kids raped and brainwashed, and they think it's funny."

Why indeed.

Also, I love the "Worry about your own genitals" sign in the pic. Coming from an organization that's centred on worrying about everyone else's genitals.

It may be the beginning of the end for Mermaids!

Transgender charity Mermaids closed its helpline and webchat service today saying it has received 'intolerable abuse

JK Rowling then challenged transgender television presenter India Willoughby to sue her in a Twitter spat after she blasted celebrities for backing Mermaids.

Now the charity has taken to its social media page to announce the decision to close its helpline and webchat in order 'to protect our dedicated staff and volunteer team'.

The post read: 'Due to intolerable abuse, we have made the decision to close the helpline and webchat services for the rest of today and tomorrow.

'Next week, to enable us to take all volunteers off the rota, we will reduce hours to 9am to 6pm only.

'We do not make this decision lightly, but our duty of care towards staff and volunteers necessitates a harm reduction approach to protect our dedicated staff and volunteer team.
