They’re just publishing the press release from the police, so the police are at fault if this is a pair of troons.

The victim described the suspects as two women aged around 18 to 20 years old.

If the victim is saying they are women, then maybe they were actually women.

The police these days are truly shit, they very rarely include physical descriptions of criminals, even when they’re warning people to be on the look out for them.

I've noticed a pattern of media scrubbing the 'trans' from negative press. They'll refer to a 'sex assault in a women's shelter' and not describe the attacker, for instance. If the victim's description suggested these were trans women, I could see the (ideologically captured) police and media just going with 'women'.

The cops wrote the press release. They don't use the exact words used by the victims.

Almost certainly the victim described them as "trans women" (i.e. men in womanface) and the cops dropped the adjective from the press release because "trans women are real women".
