Straight outta the dumb files. A gal I know was in a long term relationship with a guy and then they broke up a while back. After that she declared that she was going to play the field, be polyamorous, and by the way she's a queer now. Okay, whatever. Luckily I don't spend much time around her anyways, so the annoying bullshit factor doesn't really come into play.

Anyhow, I asked a mutual friend about how she's doing lately and I'm told she's in her first lesbian relationship. "Well, good for her", I posited. "Yeah", said the mutual friend, "She's seeing a trans woman, so this is her first experience in a lesbian relationship." I suppressed my smirk and moved on to another topic of conversation.

The reality is that this chick is one of the most boring and mousey do-nothings I currently know. She spends all her time talking about cultural hegemony and microaggressions, and I really have no idea about what her interests are or what brings her joy in life. It must suck to have a personality based completely on what you complain about. No wonder she tries to add dimension to her life by pursuing a straight relationship with a psycho in a dress.

I think that's why they do these things, to make up for a lack of personality they adopt a more interesting persona. It sets them apart, makes them special by identifying as special.

Sounds like she's missing out on her lesbian phase at the same time.

Gross. I'm hearing more and more of these stories. Seems everyone knows someone who's 'queer'. The women in particular always seem to have low self-esteem and a history of bad relationships.

Ugh, those typically come in three flavors from my observations. The first is "daddy wasn't there enough/at all." The second is "daddy loved me in the wrong ways." And the third is "mommy weaponized my relationship with daddy because of her own issues."

Your mistake here was avoiding the bait. When that guy said "this is her first experience in a lesbian relationship", you should have said "well, it's a transwoman, so it's not lesbian". Looks like your friend was testing to see if you belong in the cult, and you proved him correct. Silence is compliance.

To be fair I'd say the exact same but the word "lesbian" would have the verbal equivalent of those quotes around it.
