Our fearless leader u/FThumb relates his experience with making the DailyKos audience "uncomfortable" in 2016:

One of the most abrupt 'tells' that GOS [the Great Orange Satan, a nickname for Daily Kos later adopted for Trump] was on the verge of jumping the shark was in late January '16, and I found myself on a "time out." This was odd as, short of a brigade of flags for asking a simple (and legitimate) question in a "Hillary Safe Zone" diary a couple months prior, I didn't have anything but the rare random flag and no hiddens.

So I asked, "What's the deal?"

I had been posting my mocking "I've Never Been Convicted — Vote Hillary!" series here and there, and was told by TPTB that, (and this is a real quote) "While funny, your humor has been making some people feel uncomfortable." And I was put on a temporary ban for it.

Oh. Political humor is making "some people" "uncomfortable?"

Okaaaaaay...

What they are saying is, tell jokes in our comedy club, but don't tell any jokes.

Reminds me of Jimmy Dore's take on comedians during COVID, how they would all brag about being jabbed and mock the people who weren't.

I guess comedy is next on the list of professions co-opted by the powerful, now just extensions of their propaganda machine.

I hate to think what they'd have done to Carlin.

Or Richard Pryor, or Robin Williams or many others whose names I can't think of at the moment.

Even Henny Youngman:

Two Polish guys on Halloween with bandages on their faces — they were bobbing for french fries!

They sent a Polish terrorist to blow up a bus — burned his lips on the exhaust pipe!

Holy shit. A comedy club just banned comedy.

Full tweet:

"DC's #1 Spot for Comedy" says comedians must not make the audience feel "uncomfortable", equating it with "harassment". They encourage the audience to snitch on comedians who make politically incorrect jokes so that they can be blacklisted.

"Refrain from race-based, sex-based, sexual orientation-based, gender identity-based, national origin-based, religious-based" jokes, as they could be deemed "harassment".

"We will not tolerate these behaviors and will not book comedians who we determine either engage in them, encourage them or fail to let us know when others do."

"Did something happen at a show that made you feel uncomfortable? Let Elena or Jack know."

So, what will the comedy bits look like, one guy telling another guy to pull his finger?

Nah, frequent farters may feel harassed by such a targeted joke.
